Regarding the United Old Timers made from unassembed Shrade parts:

Anyone know where these can be bought online? Because of the rarity and unusual circumstances, I'm interested in having one of these for my OT accumulation.

Someone reported seeing the United Old Timers at a knife show. Any idea what the prices were? Comparable to the original msrp? Premium? Or discount?

Thanks,
Bob

Soon we'll be looking for the "Pocket of Schrade" to go with the "Helm Of Gondor" and we will all need Glamdring Scabbard's for our new EDC's

This could be a fun thread!

What have I gotten myself into? I know what United did.. they hammered all the parts into the 'Sword of Ellenville'.

Textoothpk,
I'm sorry you had to go through all that. How humiliating...

But you ~do~ know what I'm talking about, right? Apparantly, according to what I read on the forums somewhere, the unassembled Schrade parts were sold to United Cutlery. Someone reported seeing United Old Timers at the U.C. booth at a knife show.

I've looked everywhere, but can't find the original post. May have been at some other knife-related forum...

I wonder if there are any "trolls" there that have been banished from this realm?

I had no idea these guys had their own forum.

Now I understand.

A friend at work was showing me his new Sharpfinger when the blade began to glow... just then our boss walked by.

I am embarrased. Help me out here guys. I was fooling around with my XT1B and testing the blade for flex (lateral deflection under vertical load) and had just hit 450# on the load meter when it zeroed out! I pulled the jig, stand and loadmeter off the granite base slab and the knife was sunk halfway to the Green River in the slab!

I'm not sure how it happened but does anyone here know how to remove a sword from a stone?

I just traded my one and only Excalibur sword for the famed and much sought after "Sword of Ellenville"......are you telling me it was made by United?????

OH!!......the horror.

Well, guys, did I take a hit for the team, or what?

BobW, doesn't seem like we got an answer. I had heard the rumor as well.

Gotta get back to sharpening my battle axe...

Phil

Hey Phil.....

You are a team player, as always.... :)

Do you think you could join the "Bud K" forum so we can see what happens there?

Actually you received several answers. Maybe they form a Dragons and Dungeons riddle. I'll ask my kids.

""The Company of the Ring shall be Nine; and the Nine Walkers shall be set against the Nine Riders that are evil. With you and your faithful servant, Gandalf will go; for this shall be his great task, and maybe the end of his labours."
Sounds like a cryptic clue to me.

"In battle, don't attack the guy wearing a mattress!" - Justin Gifford
I'll have to really think about that one.

"This post contains bad spelling, lack of quality, and the finest idotic comedy I can create. But its the best I can do in 30 seconds
Grima Wormtongue is not a good speller, but save your pity and your mercy, I have no use for it!"
I am sure there is some good info in that one!

I think I have it! I wrote it all down and cut out the syllables, threw them in a bowl, and picked them back out with my sharpfinger. It means ""You might belong in Gryffindor, Where dwell the brave at heart, their daring, nerve and chivalry set Gryffindors apart ... Don't give up the quest"! :D

Phil,

I think it was a nice gesture and I thank you.

We just don´t want to miss a chance for a laugh.

The guys over at the UCforum seem like a friendly crowd, we are just not on the same planet. I'm having some trouble thinking of a name to use if I decide to join them, probably "EL Machete Relampagueante", or "Lord of the Rings around the Roses"...

In case anybody is interested, they have a link to the United Cutlery 2004 Catalog:

Awwwww, man! Now I feel bad about harassing Phil! Well, anyway, I felt so bad I just e-mailed United's customer service department. Let's see if I get a response in modern English. Anon? :p

As Larry predicted, this has been fun. Thanks for your support, guys. My adventure in that strange land makes me appreciate this place all the more.

BudK has a forum? Gotta go, guys
