I have a Buck knife I have not been able to identify. It is a pre-73 I guess because there is no model, number, just buck, (fancy letters) over USA. To describe it best with no pic would be to say it looks almost just like my Scout 107, except it is over 3 inches longer, at 10 1/4". Both have nearly identical shapes and proportions with dark mycarta handles, 3 aluminum pins, and aluminum guard/trim. Unfortunately there is no sheath that might of had a model number at least. Does anyone know what model this is or have any info on it? Also, what is a good reference book out there on collectable Buck knives.

Your knife sounds like it is one of the larger knives in the Buck Empress Trio kitchen set. The smallest was essentially a model 107 scout (like the steak knife set but no serrations on the last inch or inch and a quarter or so). The next two larger knives were each progessively longer. None of them were assigned model numbers - they were just part of the model 200 set. The Windsor set of six steak knives were model number 206.

yep you see them once in a while
some times the do good some times not so good
condition condition condition

Larry O has it right. Somewhere in all these threads, I have a pic that has the three knives from the Empress Trio set in it, along with other 100 series knives just to show the different lengths in comparison.

I am not on my home pc right now so can't load it up for you.

Thanks for the input. I thought it might be something special, but I guess part of an incomplete set isn't worth much monetarily. It has a nice balance and light feel to it so I think I will use it as a fillet and game knife. I saw the complete set on Ebay just now, and it is indeed the mid size of the set.

Tom, That middle knife is so very close to the 121. But it is, in my opinion, more valuable as a collectable. I just fondeled both that one and a 121, and the finger guard on the 121 works a little better for me. Lets me know where my hand is in relation to the blade.

I might suggest you finding a 121 somewhere for a user.

and a big, oh,,,,,,,that knife does have collectable value. I don't ever recall seeing one by itself come up on ebay.
