unknown knife BUCK?

It is the blade of a Buck 184 Buckmaster, re-shaped a bit, and with a customized handle and mounts.

:footinmou I was wrong. This is not a 184 Buckmaster. With the newer picture it is clear both that this blade is different, and that the number on the ricasso is 1886. The marking appears to be deep etched, but this might be an artifact of the poor quality photo. The handle and mounts appear to be original, but the wood handle might be a replacement for something else, or it might have been covered with something else.

See these pictures.

So what is an 1886??? Is it real, or is it "Memorex?"

BRL...

Hey Mr Levine, you mean it is the blade of a Buckmaster right? Just checking.

Gents: Just a thought, has anyone ever noticed such a "Buck" tang stamp lettering before, ever? I would have to agree that there isn't a remote chance that this was ever a Buckmaster. It would be my guess that it isn't or wasn't ever a Buck Knife at all, but perhaps the clever work of some enterprising concern that saw it fit to ride on the reputation of Buck Knife's outstanding and legendary good old fashion American quality.

Krizzard, out.

I have never seen a stamp, or a Buck knife like that one! I seriously doubt that Buck Knives Inc. of El Cajon California had anything to do with that knife. Intriguing!

Honestly doesn't look like a Buck stamp. reminds me of some case knife blades that were fitted into some parker trappers with bone stag. this man was selling them at a flea market for 12 dollars. I confronted him, he said someone sold them to him, he didnt know if they were real or not. 15 minutes later I passed by his table, it was gone! (and the market was supposed to be open for another 3 hrs??..hmmm) the image of those disrgaceful things stayed with me for a while..it was quite disgusting, i thought I would throw up!!!
