So I found this knife some years ago in my old house, but recently decided to find out where it is from, I'm pretty sure it's
made by Friedrich Herder Abr. Sohn, but I could not find this exact knife type or form so I'm guessing it's custom made?

I would like to know more about this knife, so if anyone knows please let me know

Thanks,

I'm sorry I can't help, but wanted to give you kudos and say thanks for posting a pic.

You have no idea how many new members join with questions about a knife, and then proceed to say they don't know how to post pics. It isn't that difficult.... :)

Are there any markings on the blade at all?

What you have is a kitchen knife made by the German firm of Friedrich Herder & Son, of Solingen, Germany. They are still in business and can give you much more definitive information. Their address is:

Friedr. Herder Abr. Sohn GmbH
Obere Dammstrasse 18
D-42653 Solingen

The company symbol is the "Pikas", or the "Schoppenass" (Ace of Spades in English).

I thought maybe a kitchen knife , but what's the sawtooth swedge deal ?

Modernish, they still sold similar patterns in the Middle East and Asia quite a bit up until recently, they might still do. The saw teeth look like they were added later by an owner with a triangle file.

Herder makes good knives - I have a couple.

I recently refurbished a little cleaver with similar teeth. I’m pretty sure they’re for meat tenderizing, and I recon they came from the factory like that.

Edit to clarify: I think the cleaver teeth are “factory”, but I agree with T tltt that the teeth on the OPs carver do look owner-made…
