This I saw at a FX when my instructor at the time was showing us his custom rig (personalized for his work as a scout-swimmer). At the same time, he showed us the knife he had for that job.

Generally, the knife is long and tapering down to a spearpoint, with the general shape of a longer and broader Gerber Mk II. At least one, possibly two depending on how well I remember them, sets of serrations; if two they are of different types and both are set on opposite sides of the blade. One of them segues into a line cutter. A deep groove, apparently a fuller, runs partway down the midline of the blade. The pommel is divided in two, to an offset skullcrusher styled base.

That pommel is actually part of a switch or catch then when hit, converts the whole thing from a dive knife to a (springloaded?) pair of shears.

Was supposed to have been purchased at Okinawa, Japan, for not really that much. Probably made of stainless steel, synthetic grips\handle. Still supposed to be pretty effective for not being expensive.

Anyways, to get to the chase, I'm trying to figure out what the hell this is - who makes it, what's it called, pricing, etc.

Anyone able to help me out, or recognize this from the sound of it?

This one comes close to that description ,it is called the parkway fog cutter . A review on it can be seen at ;

I seem to recall that U.S. Divers also had this knife produced under thier name as well . I would suggest checking with some local scuba outlets close to where you are .

There was another knife similar to this made years ago by Cressi sub where the two scissor points were equally long . There may be one more but I cannot remember anytjing about how to locate now . If something jars my memory I will post more for you . I hope that this is of some help .

These are close but not quite it - I'm fairly certain that the blades of the shears were closer to the same length, if not the same. The linecutter was also very pronounced along one of them. The whole shape was very aggressive, much more akin to a dagger then to a dive knife. Though, the bipartite grip and pommel are about identical as that in the links.

Thanks for the info on these, though.
