Unknown Steels?

This is probably a STUPID question, BUT...I found a cool knife at a yard sale, fixed blade, looks like a copy of something?...Like possibly a Powkowski CQ, or a Dozier..Kinda backup looking style.Has a half false edge, slim profile. no lanyard hole and is very well made with a Micarta linen handle, nice quality...Anyway my point is, are there any clues to guessing steels? It is pretty hard steel and is very grainy and under the bead blast has a silvery shine. There are no markings...Nothing at all.... but I figured I search here for help! Thanks Bart

I think it's a reasonable guess that if it has a Micarta handle it probably isn't junk steel either ... and if it's at a yard sale the asking price is probably low ... why not go for it?

You'll probably never find out exactly what steel it is, but hey, if it works....
