Unknown To Me Model Buck Knife

In 2000 my younger brother bought his first house and the day he moved in I went to visit.

When I pulled into the driveway, which was gravel, I parked and exited the car.

At my feet I immediately notice a knife laying in the gravel.

I picked it up and asked my brother about it, he said it wasn't his.

I've had it ever since.

It has Buck USA on it but I have never seen another one like it.

Does anyone know anything about this knife, model #, name, timeframe of manufacture?

Any help would be appreciated.

Is there a number on either side of the blade ? If there is, this would help identify the knife.

I'm going to agree with killgar, looks like a Buck model 281. Knife name, "NXT 1". This info is from a quick google, could be wrong.

That link above says that it might be a 282 since it lacks the colored rubber overlay.

As SharpBits said, looks like a 282 NXT. Cataloged 2001-2005.

I carried one for several years until my wifes Cocker spaniel thought it looked delicious and tried to eat it. Still have it and a couple more in the collection. What I remember it was a fine lightweight carry knife.

Yep, the 281 NXT seems to be it.

And DeSotoSky mentioned it was sold 2001 - 2005 and I thought I found it in 2000 so I checked with my brother and he said it was 2002 when he moved into his house so the dates match.

I really like Buck but I'm by no means an expert, I appreciate everyone's help.

Your tang stamps look different than mine. Here is what mine look like. Perhaps yours is an earlier version. I am surprised yours doesn't have the model number and date code, like the red one. My black one has the special Idaho stamp for 2005.
