Unmarked Blackjacks?

Question for the Blackjack collectors:
have you ever seen unmarked Blackjack knives?
The particular knife I'm asking about is #1-7 with standard leather handle, nothing unusual
except no marking on the blade.
Does it mean the blade was refinished by somebody, or Blackjack didn't mark some of its
knives for some reason?

Thank you.
Alex.

I have a blackjack 1-5 unmarked sold as a second as the top bevels ( between the false edge and full thickness spine ) were uneven. No effect on it's functioning. Dual guards, leather washer handles. Table at the gunshow had 20 or 40 of the 5 & 7, hunter and double guards. I'm quite happy with it.

Rusty, thanks for the response.
You mentioned that you saw a bunch of Blackjacks sold at some knife show. Were all of them unmarked and sold as seconds? In other words, if a Blackjack is unmarked, does it mean for sure that it is a second for some reason?

Alex.

I bought a blackjack 1-7 like yours when it first came out. As soon as I received it I polished the blade with Flitz and a soft rag (as i do with all my knives). This took off 95% of the etching. Now after several polishings the knife is totally sterile. Only by looking at a certain angle and in the right light can you see where the etching was before. Check your blade to see if you can see any signs.

Same thing happened on my Kampa. Polished a couple of times and the logo is almost completely gone. Must have been a light acid etch.

So, what IS the speed of dark?

All the knives on the table that I looked at were unmarked. My eye was uneducated at the time, but I could see differences one to the other, and bought the best I could tell.

If your knife pleases you, it was a good deal. Whether it has any defects of workmanship, or a few dings or uneven grinds side to side it still remains a question of are you happy to get what you got at the price that you paid?

I bought two Kershaw Talons (the large size blade just under 4") as a part of a Bladeforums deal. Good steel, good price, good workmanship, quality and G-10 scales. Know something? I don't like them. I never owned a linerlock before and don't trust them. I'm not getting rid of them, just keeping them in reserve.

I also have a few poorly finished but solid as a rock khukuries . Well made *tools* and a bargain for a using knife, hand forged, and a hint of spirit or magic in them. I love them even if they look ugly. What turns you on turns you on.
