Over the past few months, quite a few of these have shown up on Ebay, and the story I've been told over the years is that they are decent fakes coming out of Eastern Europe. They have been causing a bit of a stir on other, mainly military forums.

Here is one from December -

http://www.ebay.com/itm/27134834088...l?_sacat=0&_from=R40&_nkw=271348340886&_rdc=1 .

and now this one -

http://www.ebay.com/itm/RARE-US-ARM...502?pt=Collectible_Knives&hash=item1c3e4eb7a6 .

My understanding is that the top was regarded as a fake by many in the Randall community, and this second one looks more or less the same to my eye, but I was wondering if seasoned Randall collectors might see that I can't.

Thanks for any help :).

This is one of those things that a person 'knows' after seeing and handling dozens of correct knives. I was told that 15 years ago and thought it was a flippant answer, but it's not. Everything about this knife is wrong, it's a fake. Compare it to those in Gaddis', Hamilton's, Hunt's, and my book on Randall Made knives for reference.
