Unmarked Wood Slipjoint- Sodbuster?

Looks like a sodbuster to me. Don't really need to do much with it. You can clean it up with mineral oil.

Nice worker. If it was mine...I'd make sure the joint area was free of grit and gunk and then oiled. As for the blade..it looks fine the way it is. :) Sharpen it up and have fun using it.

Mineral oil, from the pharmacy section of any supermarket, will do the job. You can use to both clean and lubricate.

Hi,

Yeah I agree with you Seals, it does have that Kissing Crane look about it. A nice knife Ryanol!

I figured eyebrand or kissing crane from germany maybe.

Picked it up in an auction for twelve bucks, all it listed was old possibly hand made.

update: this thread has me thinking Freidrich Herder

Hi guys!

I think, this should be really a Soddie. Nice knife btw. Hope you can enjoy it.

Kind regards
Andi

I've seen very old sodies from Herder and Henkels that had an etched brand on the blade that got faded and worn off in time. I think hyou have a Herder there, that got patined and cleaned up and patined again, and the brand is just too worn off to see. Try examining the blade with a good magnifying glass to see if any faint old marking is still visable.

Carl.

I'll take a look at work tomorrow, we've got one of those light, magnifiying dealies on the tech bench.

I've got pretty good vision though and I can't make out anything as of yet.

It's the small holes at the end that made me think herder vs kissing crane.
