At a meeting where a bunch of guys that work professionally as building general maintenance and infrastructure managers.

To my surprise they all carried folder with clips, even more surprising they all had the same knife design (different brands). These were not employer issued, just knives independently bought by individuals with their own money.

Guess the knife type given they are folders with pocket clip.

It's also a safe bet. You *probably* won't scare anyone with a box cutter.

It's hard to remember that the rest of the world doesn't treat knives with the same respect and attention to detail that we do. For an awful lot of people, a knife is the same as a wrench, or a hammer: a cutting tool, to be used as necessary, up to and including destruction.

I think it's a good thing that folding boxcutters exist: they save "real" knives from getting abused by people who don't know any better, or who don't care.

It is disappointing, though: you see a clip, and you think you've found a kindred spirit. Then, it turns out to be one of these Volkswagen Beetles of the knife world.....

I work in a machine shop. We have pretty similar people here. There are 3 knife guys here including myself. Two of them carry a Benchmade 940 variant and I carry a random assortment (currently at work with a Kizer Gemini Vanguard). Everyone else here with a pocket clip (and theres a lot) all carry a folding box cutter of some sort. I always get a chuckle when they whip out their box cutter for a non box cutter task.

Everyone in the service department at my office carries a box cutter of some sort. Some clipped folders, some old school utility style, and some those cheap plastic ones with the snap-off blades. All are some sort of Home Depot or Walmart special. Realistically, it's all most people ever need.

I will say, only the ones carrying a clipped one can ever find the knife when they need it. The others are constantly setting them down and losing them.

The Milwaukee fastback styles are very popular amongst blue collar tradesmen. I use this as a plumber because you can just beat the crap out of them and replace the blade or the whole damn thing if you lose it. Game changer imo, I still got my tidioute stockman or a barlow on me for the finer cutting chores or food etc.

Not usually one to observe the pocket region of strange men to see if there is a pocket clip but when I do I like to see what they packing.

Wait they just sounds all wrong. What has this place done to me.

Congratulations, you win a wall size poster of me....no homo.

"homo"?!?

A box cutter blade is not, as you claim, a wharncliffe. Wharncliffes curve to the edge. Sheepsfoot is closer, but still curves. Probably closest would be a cut off or clipped pen blade.
