"The Fairbairn Manual of Knife Fighting
William Ewart Fairbairn's Lost Classic"
The above has been found on a web page authored by William L. Cassidy.
The page is currently located at:
http://selbstverteidigung.org/images/cobra.html
Apparently, this was on line 3 years ago, then abruptly disappeared. According to information posted on BladeForums in 1999, the manual was originally put up by Cassidy at http://209.1.162.247/cobra.html (a site that no longer exists.) Anyone interested in the original posts with Cassidy should visit:

I found this manual - and 3 other interesting pages about W.E. Fairbairn written by Cassidy - while researching a knife I just purchased.
I am sharing this find with the members of BladeForums in the hope that someone can tell me more about my knife. The knife is an authorized Fairbairn Commando "S" Guard Commemorative F-S Fighting Knife, from the Castle Knife Co. *Any* information about the knife, it's maker(s), it's value and history would be greatly appreciated.
Here are the 3 other interesting web pages from the original Cassidy posts:
1. http://selbstverteidigung.org/images/fairbairn.html
Photos of prototype knives, including the Fairbairn-Millerson, Fairbairn's own design for an improved Smatchet, both circa 1944, and, a "W.E. Fairbairn Cobra Design".
2. http://selbstverteidigung.org/images/applegate.html
Of interest to historians perhaps is Cassidy's questioning of Fairbairn's collaboration with Rex Applegate on the design of the Applegate-Fairbairn Fighting Knife.
3. http://selbstverteidigung.org/images/knife.html
This is a history of the Fairbairn-Sykes Fighting Knife and of the Castle Knife Company's production of the authorized Fairbairn Commando "S" Guard Commemorative F-S Fighting Knife.
William L. Cassidy is the author of "The Complete Book of Knife Fighting" and "Quick or Dead", both currently in print and available from Amazon.com. Mr. Cassidy's company, the Castle Knife Co., produced the authorized Fairbairn Commando "S" Guard Commemorative F-S Fighting Knife.
