Unread Buck forum threads being flagged "read"

Has anybody else noticed this??? I usually let some threads go while I respond to others...but when I get back to them, they've changed to the "read" shade of blue (instead of the "unread" bright blue)... :grumpy:

Is there a switch to turn this off??? I'd like them to remain flagged "unread", even if I never read them...

Do the other Forums here do this, too???

This seems to be a recent change...maybe it's something I did while mucking around in my Users CP...or maybe a global Forum change???

I'll see if I can scrape up a moderator...one who's not busy at Buck, I mean... :p

...I think if I close my browser the forum seems to "reset" itself to the defaults. If I keep the thread open in the browser and I don't close it...it shows what I've read and what I haven't read all day...Just an observation from sunny Florida...

Here's what I got from Cougar Allen -

If you don't do anything (that the system perceives) for 15 minutes the system decides you're done for now and marks all threads read. Forum software designers must think that's a convenience for you....

Once you've loaded a page moving around in it (hitting page-down or clicking the mouse or whatever) doesn't send any signal to the Bladeforums system, but if you refresh the page or open a new page or another thread or refresh the thread list, things like that tell the system you're still here and prevent it timing out.

You can have multiple windows open and as long as you do something in at least one window the system won't time you out. The problem is likely to arise when you're writing a long post -- but if you have another window open at Bladeforums, the thread list or whatever, and refresh that once in a while while you're writing the post, you won't time out.
