saw this knife and was wondering if it were true how hard it would be to get a nice edge on it?
didn't know they had unsharpened knives. but duh, i guess you start with a blank and go from there.

I have been contemplating buying some of the Schrade blanks on ebay, but I don't know the first thing about grinding a knife, so have held off. If you decide to try it, please let us know how it goes.

The difficulty level can vary when it comes to grinding them.
Phil Gibbs once said that most of the Camillus knives were blanked, heat-treated and then ground. They used big liquid cooled grinders so heal buildup was not a problem.
I imagine Schrade used a very similar process. I have a drawer full of Schrade & Camillus blanks, but have not had time to learn how to grind them yet. With just a 2 X 72 belt sander you have to go very slow & quench after each pass. Someday I will get all those blanks, but I have too much other work at the moment.
