Hey there! I have the Knifeart CF Sebenza 21 Insingo. It's my 3rd Sebenza. Even after a few months of carrying it, the action on it isn't entirely smooth. It's almost as if it has a touch of grittiness to it. I've opened it up, cleaned it, and lubed it two times, to no avail. I've also flicked it open plenty of hundreds of times.

Has anyone experienced this? Any suggestions?

What exactly do you mean by unsmooth? Some guys have this notion that they are supposed to fly out like a speeding bullet (mine don't). Some want to compare them to bearings...that is valid if we are talking about WELL greased bearings with seals that will not spin freely once you release the race from you fingers (unless they are attached to a flywheel).

Some compare them to hydraulics, and I think this is spot on. Especially if you over-grease the sebenza. It will feel akin to swinging a sword through water...smooth, but damped.

If you indeed feel grittiness you may have some deformity on the detent track (or possibly, but more doubtfully, a defect in the detent ball).

Hope this diatribe helps somehow.

 The detent track can make a Sebenza feel gritty. Sometimes it takes awhile for the detent ball to wear a nice, smooth path where it contacts the blade. Also, this area is subject to poblems if not perfectly cleaned and lightly lubed.

The action is definitely not smooth like my other two Sebenzas are. I'll take a look at the detent track and clean it out again and check for any deformities.

Mine was as well. I polished the washers with some metal polish until they were shiny, degreased the entire knife and regreased it with the CRK lube. Then I assembled the knife and used only the longer portion of the Allen wrench, no need to over tighten. Made mine smooth.
