Unthreaded pocket clip?

I just got my Resillience and was changing it to tip-up carry with the zip tie mod, however I can't screw in the screws in these slots. All the other pocket clip locations work fine. It's hard to see, but from what I can tell it looks like the metal inside isn't threaded. Has anyone else had this problem? Any recommendations as to what i could do, save sending it to Spyderco?

You could cut some threads into the hole with a tap, but that might void the warranty. I know it sucks sending in a brand new knife for service, but it sounds like the best option.
