I am reposting this from another forum section in the hopes someone here might know something about them.

I came into a lot of knives recently and most of them I have figured out but these few I have not been able to narrow down. The one looks like the handle is meant to be of a Colt 45 design, it says Ivory on the blade but not sure that means the handle is ivory.

One has a name on one side but that could be who made it or who it was made for, sort of like what Randall knives does for their customers and on the other side it has a J.S. for the Journeyman Smith.

Thanks in advance!

Knives Annual 2002:
Roger Clark, Rockdale, TX. Full time maker (?)
Forges 01 steel, traditional straight knives.
Mark: first initial, last name.

No further entries beyond that date for him. Stopped making knives or.....?

Others: Nothing remote with initials 'BWC'. May be European or So African.

Good luck.

Thanks for the info but I have contacted that particular Roger Clark and he said it was not one of his but he has seen the mark before. His is in script writing. Here is an image of one of his pieces.

So unusual. Since it is an ABS JS mark, I looked on their site and there is one Clarke JS and one Clark MS, but neither of them here.

A past aspirant who faded, I guess.

Was it this Roger Clark you contacted? - http://www.rclarkknives.com/ ? And are we sure that he's was/is the Rockdale, Tx one?

As was mention in the Levine thread, this Roger Clark that made your knife seemed to be decently active in the 90's, then faded. That knife is in the late 80's, 90's classic ABS Bowie mold, especially for the Texas, Arkansas, etc.... area.

Strange.

^^^ Yes, this. I did a 'reverse phone number' lookup of the listing in the 2002 Knives Annual. That Rockdale, TX number is still current and the listed owner is 'June Clark'. She is 85 years old....

I suspect Roger Clark from Rockdale, TX has passed. He would have been mentioned with relatives and wasn't.

Yes I contacted the rogerclark@comcast.net email address and he responded to me a few times about his work. He showed me the photo above of one of his works where he uses a cursive / script type writing to his name on the blades. So unless he lied and maybe changed his stamp from the 90s but I see no reason to do that.

Yes, but did he tell you he was from Texas at some point in his life? Looking at his website he never mentions Texas, and only mentions being a stock removal maker (totally different method than forging). If he was a knifesmith that progressed far enough to earn a "JS" stamp, he'd probably mention it.

I don't think he's the Texas guy.

The one from Rockford, Texas fits everything about your knife.

He didn't say where he was from. He sent me a few photos of his knives though with the mark he uses and that he isn't sure who the other knife smith is but he said he uses the same mark but block letters and that he makes a nice looking knife. I emailed back and forth with him a few times but he doesn't say where he is located.

I am thinking he is not what ever one is from Texas but there is no contact info for the one in Tx I guess to figure out who he is.

This particular R Clark does state on that website that he started in Arizona and the bottom of the page it says his address now is:

R. Clark Custom Knives
Roger Clark
Lake Stevens Wa,98258

"but there is no contact info for the one in Tx I guess to figure out who he is."

Wrong. A simple Google search of the info I provided you is all you needed. I'll do you the favor.

Call: 512-446-three three eight eight. Ask for June. She will know. Let us know what you find.

That other R. Clark makes a great knife, but he's not your man. :)

Also, make sure you dont store that life in the sheath. Likely where the rust came from. Bummer!!
