here's a large bowie style knife with a 1/8th" thick blade with wooden handle

appears to be some type of custom kitchen cutlery? whats your opinion?

looks like it could also be a vintage butcher's knife? measures around 14 1/2" long

when do you think it was made?

I made one like that for a guy, but he wanted it 3/8 thick, it all most took two hands to lift it. I don't know why he wanted it that heavy.

for $22.50 the buyer got a pretty good deal for a large custom handmade bowie style knife

that could be used for Mountain man reenacting events or pioneer days.

I don't really see the kitchen knife thing although I suppose it could be used in the kitchen. It looks to me like a high school freshman metal shop project.

Good gosh that is nothing but last weeks scrap. I think the buyer paid about $32.50 too much for something that looks like it was glued together.

Maybe a mountain man would recognize that as an object remotely looking like a knife in the same way he would recognize a ball point pen as something looking like a writing instrument.

maybe a Mountain man could use this for scraping the fat off of hides for tanning hides?

You better believe when a seller on eBay, throws out the idea that his offering just may be something really old and rare, then says you decide he's trying to fool you.;)

Looks like an ideal knife to put a logo on and use as a sign for a knife shop. Other than that, I can't think of any purpose for it.

maybe it was used by KUNG FU schools? could be an old butterfly knife for Kung Fu for knife fighting demos?

That ain't no Kung Fu knife.

Looks like a metal shop special, or stamped metal from Mexico or Pakistan.
