Question to the experts. I have a NIB Buck *110* in a sheath I have not seen before. Please see pictures and let me know your thoughts. Sheath is stitched on three sides only, states 110*, and has an off center flap. Anyone know the history on this one? Thanks much.11dot back.jpgphoto.jpg

Thanks BH. That does help for the front and style. The back is stamped BUCK* (dot). That's got me curious too.

That sheath is not the correct sheath for a 2 dot 110 as I've not heard or seen one w/ that sheath. I agree with information put forth here that this sheath in question first appeared in 1990. As for the stamp 110* it could have meant custom. Is the name Buck three times on the snap? DM

DM and all - thanks for the information. The paperwork in the box supports the 2dot but I agree the sheath was questionable. The sheath does have the BUCK three times around. I guess I was more intrigued with the 110* mark.

Well, they gave you the wrong sheath, but at least it's a really interesting sheath.

;)

A correct sheath in new condition won't be easy or cheap unless you get lucky.

Here's some pictures of the proper sheath for your 2 dot. I checked the four NIB that I have and they all have this sheath. Notice the different rivet position, the cut down pouch in the front and the higher belt loop position when compared to the newer style sheath next to it in the last picture.

I have the correct sheath for a 2 dot 110. Its in good to very good shape, no scuff marks only not new. DM

I just dug out two foldover sheaths, one for a 112 and the other for a 110. Both of them have the "dot". I'll be looking for my other ones to see if they also have the dot. The dots on these two seem to be in the same spot on the sheath, but the 112/110 stamps are positioned differently.

Those marks your calling dots look to me like they are too deep in the leather to be dots. That looks to be a mark left from the sewing maching holding the leather for stitching. DM

LOL, I don't know that we solved a mystery, it's just what I think about the marks. It's still just speculation, but if I were to sell one, I wouldn't list it as a "Rare one dot 110 sheath". :D

Look at the back of the 112 sheath. There are really 6 marks and they bracket where the belt loop is to be sewn on.
I bet they are built into the die cutter to assure quick & accurate assembly. Just my take on it.

O no when I sell mine I'll list it toward Plumber's recommendation. 'Rare one dot sheath' DM ;)
