unusual FB; Camillus ?

this is a 6 1/8" knife with sheath, ebay, with Camillus box(no numbers). seller called it a "skinning knife" which it is not. it might be a caping knife for dissecting off the hide on the face and head of an animal for mounting. no markings visible on knife or sheath.

so, is it a Camillus ? and intended purpose if not for caping ?

This knife was used to skin the coating off electric wires. We made a ton of them. I use to work there

Thanks Irv. there it is: "Handyman Skinning Knife with Sheath". i just never thought of skinning electric wires. it's only recently i have seen a few of these on ebay. cheap, nobody bids. glad i got one. roland

This is a model #S1843. Camillus made this item for Western Electric and the telephone companies.
