I have been using the 110/112 fact sheet as my guide in collecting versions/variations of the 110 and 112.

I have come across a knife not listed...interesting.

What I have is a 3 dot 110 with finger grooves that is has a radiused rear bolster only.

The fact sheet has the FG appearing as a 4 dot. The fact sheet also lists only one version which I take to be the non-radiused, no FG two dot carry over design.

What say you Buck Sages??

A chorus of the knowledgeable members on this forum advised me that the attached "no dot" and "two dot" 110s were reworks. You can judge from these what yours may be. Probably a rework.

Telechronos:)

I going to Post a picture when I get back from a trip but it is looking like someone's FG home job.

Thanks for the pic's Telechronos.

the rubber bucky is a reworked knife that i finger groved my self
to have the grips "fit" better with more of a factory look.
most all reworked knives have deeper finger groves then factory.
from my experance it is really much too easy to not stop in time.
at the buck factory many 110's were finger grooved years before it was offered
it is my under standing that it was from employees haveing this done
that buck decided to offer it as an option.
another employee mod was to have them 'thinned' down
with rounded edges so as to fit in the pocket much better.
the radisus edges were adopted by buck
and the idea of a thiner 110 knife WAS tryed several times
yet did not make it in to production..
there is a 110-TS in the records but the knife is so rare i have never seen one..

note on factory fiinger groveing you can see many verations in depth and with of them over the years and even in the same year. i think this due to that it was most likely a hand operation and the verations are not any diffrent then the belly of the clip or the cutting edge of the blade..
these things are always seen on hand finished knives,
and in fact is a quality that is looked for by many collectors.

What does the TS refer to?

110 Thin Side
it looked conventnal in most ways and had the TS after it and very few made
there was ONE that showed up on ebay 6 years ago and that is the only one i have ever seen even in a picture from a former employee.
then

there was an experimental one with only very 5 or so made this had not number and the spring held the bolster togeather some how and it had a
Hook on the blade bolster like the 112..
Joe has one he said but i have never even seen a picture of any.
i dont know if all are accounted for..

Interesting information. I'm drinking my coffee in a Comfort Inn in Harrisionburg VA this morning. I wish I had had time to do good pictures of this knife of mine. I'm convinced that its a rework but its a exceptional well done job...so maybe done at Buck.

It is really a nice fit to my hand. Heck maybe it a proto for the FG. I wish. I'll post the pictures ASAP when I get home.

Have Laptop will travel.:D

wow you drove right past me ..

Yep, rolled right through WV on 81. In Ashboro NC tonight. Managed to find some really good barbeque here abouts.

No challaging projects for the Rubber Bucky yet.

Well I'm back so here is the FG 3 dot. Opinions? Any chance this is a prototype? The quality of the job is very high in my opinion.

You're right. The quality is very good. If it is a home job it's a good one. I think Joe or someone else from Buck are the only ones that can answer the question as to whether or not it's a prototype.

I notice it has an odd shaped nail nick too,I have a couple 3 dots and 4 dots ,they all have the same funny dull edged nail nick.

I'm going to guess and say those finger grooves were done by a skilled buck employee, maybe not a production knife, but definately done by someone with skills.

I don't think Buck Factory Fg's cut that far into the bolsters. But wadda I know....

Nail nick is what you put your fingernail in to open the blade.
