This Rike F1 is probably the first fixed blade I've ever seen that includes a wave opener and a flipper tab:

That's not silly at all . . .

The "wave" is probably intended as a blade catcher for use in a fantasy knife fight. Much like the brass strip on the spine of some Bowie knives that is used to trap, twist and break the opponent's blade. What do I know, maybe those things actually work.

The wave was always meant to be a blade catch, thumb protector. It was realized afterwards that it easily deployed a folding knife by snagging in the pocket seam.
The flipper tab you see on that knife above looks like a finger guard. Nothing looks unusual to me.

Maybe it has an ingenious hidden lock somewhere that you just have not found yet? Ha.

Actually, I'm beginning to wonder if this isn't the whole idea of this one. By making it look like a folder, complete with a fake pivot, a wave and with a guard that clearly looks just like a flipper tab, they're making it for you to get just to hand to another knife nut so you can enjoy their momentary confusion as they can't figure out how to close it.

Bwahahaha!

They should make a knife with 7 locks you have to manipulate in order to close. That would be fun.

They just removed the pivot from the stolen Tropen style folder they put out.

Rike stole the design from the upcoming Spyderco Tropen, the changed it slightly AND make an identical fixed blade versions with some size change but all the flipper folder aspects. It is laziness basically.
