I have a Grohmann Large Skinner with a Whale bone handle. I was wondering what other knives you guys have with more unusual handles. For example I have seen knives with handles made out of deer feet and mammonth ivory. Pictures are greatly appreciated.

I don't own one but oosic (walrus penis bone) strikes me as the strangest.

Toolsteel, you get the award for the weirdest material suggestion. Reminds me of the putters they used to make using a bull's penis for the shaft. Who makes such a thing? I don't want one. I just want to know where not to look.:p

They actually have that???

What kind of knifemaker gets up in the morning and says: "I got it... I love knives, I love Walruses(?!?) Ima use their penis bone as a handle. YEAH, everyone will want one!!!"

Sounds like a case of oosic envy.:p

They used to sell them in the sportsman's guide catalog. I've never met anyone who had one though. I can't imagine the thought process that leads you to extract the penis bone from a dead walrus in the first place. And then say to yourself, "I could use that to make a knife handle.

It's kind of like the first person to eat chitlins. How do you make that decision?

stone would be rather odd, and its quite common,
mamouth tooth,

i thing the truely strangest is the knife handles i saw on an austrain makers knives,
they were corn cobs that had been stabilised!!!!

:D

Easily :D

People from the northern hemisphere (Eskimo,Inuit,...) make litteraly everything out of the animals they hunt.
And because this bone is much stronger and nicer it's logical they are gone use it.
I' dont they are thinking to much about where it comes from :D

Propably very true but think it this way, when one eats the soft part on top, the bone is easily found... :D :D

Looks like a femur aka, the long bone from the upper leg. Just my opinion.
