yes i seen one like that at the sale at buck .. some one else got it for 35$ :(
i don't know if the plain sides were before or after the Master Series ...
i have a "proto-type / sales sample"
110 Master Series stamped blade in a frame with
checkered scale on one side and smooth scale on the other ...

One of my lists mentions some 1999 "French Green" 110's 110-SP3 using Master's Series leftover scales.

I think that this one has a 2006 date stamp. Everybody still think its 100% Buck with that date on it?

My tired old eyes can't make out the date code, but I still would say those are factory scales. They look exactly like the they "French Green" scales I have seen that were.

I question that this is a "French Green" Fibron inlay. The French Green knives were parallel cut inlays and this one is bias cut. This bias cut inlay was used on the Harley Davidson knife "The Petrali Legend" among others. The French Green handles were used on the Master Series over runs among others. Parallel cut is cut to show grain like the face of a sheet of plywood. The bias cut inlays are cut to show grain like the edge of a sheet of plywood (note the uniform layers on the face of this knife). FYI.

I believe these knives were sold through the company store as over runs. I don't remember the price but it would have been in the $25 to $35 range with box and sheath.
