Unusual pizza toppings?

Yellow corn and seaweed... was not tooooooooo bad...

Squid and Octo I'd pass on if I had the chance again...

Artichoke hearts were a surprise for me, rather tasty. My favorite pizza was chicken, garlic, tomatoes and basil over provalone and fetta cheese with no sauce, but an olive oil/garlic glaze... Artichoke hearts just made it that much better.

Anchovies are good on pizzas. They are actually quite good on salads as well.

Others I've enjoyed are breaded chicken and lobster (on separate pizzas).

Eggs. The most common way to do this, here in Italy, it to put hard - boiled egg slices on the pizza. However, I had a pizza in Venice once that basically had sunny - side up eggs on it. You bake the pizza until it's almost cooked, then take it out of the oven and crack a couple of eggs on it. Put the pizza back in the oven to let it finish cooking (eggs and all). Sounds weird, but it's actually pretty good.

One of my favorite combinations (before the dietician told me to control my fats and salt  ): sausage, bacon (real bacon, not Canadian back bacon), onion, garlic, and mushroom.

I also like pepperoni and pinapple. Chicken, pineapple, onion, garlic, and mushroom isn't bad either.

My own invention - thinly slice [ 1/16"] a small onion and potato ,spread out on dough ,sprinkle with crushed rosemary and a bit of olive oil.

Found an online Tokyo pizza delivery place and they have some strange ones... corn and mayo, squid ink... guess they would be aquired tastes, but I'd rather not aquire them.

Odd topping requests I've had people ask me for:

Broccoli
Cauliflower
Lettuce
Peanutbutter and jelly
Corn (always somebody Hindustani--must be popular there)
Chives
Asparagus
Goat cheese
Chorizo (sounds pretty good actually)
Capsicum (yeah, I know they mean green peppers, but learn english, dammit. If I can learn that Capsicum means green peppers in durka durka, then you can learn the english word for it)

and my all-time favorite: Shit (as in "what do you want on your pizza?" ..."uh, shit..." .... "we don't serve that here, sir")

I'm really a veggie pizza kind of guy but a white clam pizza hits the spot once in a while. It's topped with baby clams, olive oil, garlic, either mozzarella cheese or just grated cheese, and sometimes a little spinach (or some parsley) for color - no tomato, that's why they call it "white".

That is absolutely brilliant. Better than egg on a burger! Better than breakfast burrito! It is a breakfast pizza!

Breakfast pizza that I'm familiar with is whatever's left in the boxes the morning after a party. Fried egg pizza is better. Haveta get me some pizza shells . . . and some eggs . . . and some summer squash.

Question: is it a red (sauce) or white (oil & butter) pizza?

The one I had was a regular tomato and cheese pizza, with a couple eggs on top. You could do with with a white pizza, too, though.

I tried anchovies once... just once...

The flavors didn't mix. It's was distinct fish and distinct pizza at the same time.

One night at the pizza shop I put M&M's on a small and tried that. Chocolate and pizza don't go very good together either; musta been the tomato sauce...

When I was a kid I worked in a pizza shop.

You can do M&Ms, but not with sauce and cheese. Put some chocolate syrup and mini marshmallows on a plain crust. Then M&Ms on top of that.

I am a type 2 diabetic and have missed having pizza for years. Recently I started making it with low carb whole wheat tortillas as crust and am enjoying it again. As I am also salt restricted, no anchovies allowed. I think my favorite is with mushrooms, green onions, fresh thick sliced jalepenos, garlic slices and pineapple chunks.
