Been holding on to this piece of 1” round A2 steel for some time, I had a vision about making some Ice Picks, knurled in the mid section. I think they are beginning to look like steel sculptures rather than everyday tools for the kitchen. I thought you all might like to see a picture, they are not yet finished or heat-treated. Thanks for looking. Farid

They look like really wicked kubatons or those "tactical spike" things, or maybe some kind of rods for a machine of sorts. Definitely nifty looking

Hmm... Throwing dart? With the right balance, penetration would be superb.

what you need is a wrist mounted launching platform for them. Those things would be scary shot from a wrist mounted, compressed air launcher at about 500fps

Wicked, with some groves Jeremy Horton would have called those DNA-samplers...:D

Those are very impressive. Now the thought of one of those traveling at 500 fps is quite frankly... horrifying lol

first the tactical straw now the tactical toothpick... looks sick though! we need tactical chopsticks for my ninja sushi

Not sure how the ends would help with grip, but am also unsure if knurling is large enough for wet hands. These are MINOR concerns though, I really like them, because they are just so fun looking. Is A2 really rust resistant?

Good Job,
Connor

A2 is not stainless, it’s a tool steel, I think the way I like to go with this is to get a special coating done on these which basically is titanium nitriding first and then DLC (Diamond Like Coating), it is very expensive but the beauty of this is not just a very hard coating but when you lightly polish the points at both ends the ‘Gold colour’ from the titanium nitriding would come through and will add to the visual effect.

That sounds awesome. Er... how long/thick are these? Surely not the full 1" thick!

Made some progress, they are now ready for heat-treating.
