The owner of this knife received it as a gift. He asked me to find out which model it is, when it was made, and what it might be worth.

By the shape and length (7-1/2 inches) of the blade it appears to be a Model 14, but a custom model 14 with stag handle.

Correct?

If not, Whut Izzit?

And when made?

And what worth (ballpark)?

THANKS!

I pulled out a #14 and the blade looks exactly the same and is the same length. Its an older #14 though with the traditional signature Randall stag handle. It is worth a lot of money. At least, and I mean at least, $1,500. The demand can bring this knife over $2,200 if not more.

BRL,

It is a model #14, but instead of the standard full tang construction it is a "cut down tang" (CDT) which is still available from the shop. The CDT is used to reduce weight and make stag an option, since stag can't be mounted on a full tang.

It is a tool steel blade with a good bit of carbon spotting.

It's in a Sullivan sheath which, if original to the knife would make it no older than late 80's. The spacer stack also fits that time period.

Retail (ebay) on the knife is somewhere around $500.

Good luck,

I stand corrected on the price. You never know with a Randall knife auction. All it takes is two to get into a price war. It's not uncommon with Randall Knives on Ebay. But I'll pay $500 for it right now.

Thanks for the information!

C: I'll pass along the offer. I don't think it's for sale, but you never know...
