Unusual Stamping on a Master Series??? Joe??

Hey all!! I have a 119 Master Series with checkered handle and medallion. The blade is stamped BUCK 119MSU USA on one side as it should be, but the other side is stamped BUCK 119U USA. Nowhere is it stamped Master Series BG-42. My overrun with smooth green handle is stamped properly.
I also have noticed a difference in my 110MS and 110 overrun. The blade stampings are on opposite sides from each other. The nail nick on the overrun is NOTICEABLY larger than that on the reg. 110MS.
My questions are this. Has anyone else run across these errors? How can I tell this 119MS is BG-42 steel? Should I discard these and keep looking for others?? ;) Kinda strange for a "MASTER SERIES" I thought.
I LOVE THE KNIFES and am just posting what I see and would like to know if anyone else has noticed these, or other discrepancies. PEACE,

Hey Mike,

If you're just going to discard them I'll take 'em. Will even send ya a brand new ten dollar bill to cover shipping. :p

Seriously, the 119 has me stumped. Maybe Larry Oden has seen one stamped like yours.
All the ones I've seen, (just a few) have been stamped 119MSU on the obverse and master series on the pile side. Wonder why they call it the pile side rather than reverse side?

The larger nail nick on your 110 is probably the result of it being ground deeper than normal. I wouldn't think that would make the knife any less desirable, just a bit different.

I'd put that 119 away until there are more answers on it, as it may just be worth a bit more for the double sided tang stamping. Never seen a Buck like that!

Take care,

Warhawk,
While your offer to "cover" shipping is tempting I have to think about recent countefeit bills discovered. I am concerned about any club members and friends being in possession of these materials. I will gladly accept and grade all $10 bills from members, however due to the expected volume I will not be able to return any but the ones that are proven to be counterfeit. :D
As for the nail nick I was under the impression that these were stamped and not ground into the blade?? Is this correct or am I in "left field"?
Peace,
Mike B

Mike,
No positive info on the blade stamping yet but the mail nick is just one that got ground deeper. They are acutally milled into the blade, one at a time.
