I came across this unusual walters axe on ebay and am wondering if it's legit.
The handle looks like an actual walters handle, but that head just does not look like any walters axe I've ever seen. Would be easy enough for someone to stamp walters on a cheap european import axe head.
I own two walters montreal style axes, one with the original handle, and have looked at dozens of other walters axe heads and also looked at various walters catalogues. I've never seen a walters axe with such a narrow eye/poll. the head in the auction is much more like a hudson bay pattern than the typical walters style montreal pattern. also the bit on the walters montreal axe heads usually sweeps both up and down from the eye, but this axe is flat across the top and sweeps down dramatically.
has anyone ever seen a walters axe like this? there are so many fakes and forgeries on ebay, I thought I'd check.
