...to check for Boxing Day web specials and the last thing I expected to see was an Emerson CQC-8 PE BT on sale at a hefty discount! Needless to say, I hit the 'buy it now' button really fast. I have been wanting to add an 8 to the armory for a long time and soon it will be here. That makes two Emersons bought in December and as there is no other manufacturer that 'does it for me' the way that Emerson does, unless something spectacular comes along, I will only be buying Emerson knives from now on. Such is my New Year's resolution.

So true. Wife gave me a benchmade for Xmas. She then says. I know u like to carry Emerson's so you can return this. Fail. Was hoping to add another Emerson to my collection but now I feel guilty for wanting to exchange it.

Your wife sounds like a good woman. I think that you would honor her more by getting a knife that you would like and use, rather than a 'shelf-queen'. JMO
 
Explain to your wife that although benchmade is a great and awesome knife and you love the Christmas gift, It's just not an emerson. I too would think she would rather see a knife you love and enjoy in your pocket rather than a knife that doesn't ever get used because it's not an emerson..

Just curious... Which Benchmade did she get you?
 
I don;t know if my GF gifted me it, it'd be pretty hard to get rid of. And thats saying something. I'm not a sentimental guy and I'm crazy for Emersons.

And while Emersons are by far my fave I do own and carry other brands as well.

So yeah that would also make it easier to keep for me.

In the end I guess the choice is yours. You guys are probally older and wiser than me. That said I think I have a handle on women in this respect...even though she says its cool to return it, even if she dosn;t show it, your probally gonna hurt her feelings.

They remember stuff like that, even if they act like it's no big deal. At least it was a Benchmade!

Only women say "it's fine" when it could not be farther from the truth in their eyes. And they ALL do that, every last one of 'em.
 
The 581 is a fine knife and makes a great user with the m390 blade. After carrying my crk a while I carried my 581 the past 3 days. Its fun to play with a spring loaded knife once in a while, especially one as strong as this. Something about this knife makes me glad i havent sold or traded it off.
