After a 2 year wait, finally emailed saying " Mike, your up "! Now, what to choose???????????????

very pleased for you I am sure what ever you choose it will be exceedingly welldone to say the least.

Personally I would go for one of his San Francisco Bowies or his art daggers. Although a forged scroll folder would be a good choice as well. But maybe the best way to go is to give Larry your budget and say "Larry, make me something nice (fixed or folding)" and wait and see what he comes up with.:thumbup:

Mike, what ever you choose make sure to show it when it's done.

Marcel

I'm looking forward to seeing whatever it is you choose.

For me it would be as big a bowie as Larry will make, with a carved handle and blade.

Keith, your close! Just got sketches today from him. I've always loved his pearl handled Bowies ever since I saw them in Weyers Points of Interest book. I had 2 Goblin folders and still have a few carbon knives. Not that elaborate. So, I'm going with the largest pearl handled bowie he has ever made. Then I emailed him and asked if ever made one with a rear bolster? He emailed me back saying I must be telepathic(not sure on the spelling). He was sketching one with a rear bolster! It will have a long clip point with a persian look to it. It will be the first bolstered carved pearl bowie! I wanted a big mother but the largest blade his forge could handle is about 9.5". He said he will try and stretch it for me. Then I told him it will be in the next Darom Book, which he had no idea of. He is VERY excited as well as I ! You will all see the finished product, I promise..................MT

As a matter of fact, I will show you what he emailed me. Sketches of blades and handles. Guess which one I chose?

Hey, why can't I post attachments? I emailed somebody to charge my fees to the same credit card. If that card was no good, someone should have contacted me! Can someone PLEASE take care of this?

Mike, if you want to e-mail them to me I will post them up.

WOW! For me, #3 + #3 =

Nice going Mike (and Larry)

Wow, that is going to be something else! #1 or #3 handle plus #3 blade would be my pick - but it's not like there's a bad choice to be made. Please keep us posted on the project.

Its a hard choice. What a decision to make because everything Larry makes is spectacular. If it were me I would also go with 3&3 WOW!

I quess we are all in agreement! #3 was Mine and Larrys minds put together. We both think it came out quite well. I asked if he ever made a carved pearl Bowie with arear bolster. He never has. This will be the first. I'm expecting more sketches today most likely of the guard and other nooks and crannies! Thanks everyone! Please renew my membership!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is going to be a stunning piece...you may want to reduce the flare on the rear bolster slightly, if it is too wide, it will dominate both the heft and the visual lines.

Larry is a genius, one of the highest regarded living knifemakers by both fellow makers and by knowledgeable collectors.....and he is a SUPER nice guy as well.

Best Regards,

I'll take the 3+3 and the 2+2 with fries and a Diet Coke. That is going to be one sick piece of cutlery art, sir!!!

I like #2 handle with #3 blade, but I think that any combination would make a great knife. Congratulations you will be getting something special.
