I'm curious to know from knife owners of both the older peanuts and newer ones, which were the best years for the peanuts? Would you buy one made today?

i think it depends on a few key things
Do you like carbon springs? (im weird like that)
Does the position of the pull bother you on either older or newer?

Usually i am all about the 70s and before, however, i have a brown synthetic peanut that is great. I think for this specific pattern either would be fine but if i wanted a carbon blade id opt for the carbon springs on the older knives ( because i like the metal to match). if that doesn't urk you like it does me, a newer one would be fine.

Not weird at all. I don't have a preference for carbon or stainless steel springs, but I want them to match. If the knife has a carbon steel blade, I want carbon steel springs. Stainless for stainless.

I have two new production Case Peanuts and they seem to be fine little knives. I don't have any experience with older ones, but for my cutting needs there's nothing wrong with the ones I have. I may even add a third.

Would I buy a new one, yes. Given a choice new production or mint 64 to 69 era or 1970 10 dot I would take the latter. You can't go wrong either way.

Have a great day,
Jeff

My sample size is not large enough to make a definitive call, but my '64-'69 Peanut was perfect out of the box (new old stock); while my two current production peanuts were far less than perfect and had to go back to Case for re-alignment. I love all three of them now though....
