It's been over a year ago since we discussed the upcoming Sprint Run of the Spyderco C-60 Ayoob model. I remember when we talked about it previously here on this Sub-forum most people that responded did so in a very positive manner. Actually I thought we would hear something along the line of a "progress report" or a possible date of release by now. But no the only thing I've heard is that the C-60 Sprint Run is in the works.

I know there are a lot of new Spyderco fans on this Sub-Forum and I'm sure that many of them haven't even ever heard of the C-60 Ayoob model. This C-60 Ayoob model has a rather sizable cult following and on the rare occasion one goes up for sale or trade it's usually met with a big response.

If nothing else let's get a conversation going about the C-60 Ayoob model and I do want to hear from fans of the C-60 >> as well as many of the newbies who are wanting to check this model out at some point.

This is my most anticipated Spyderco in a while. I passed on the sprint back in 2011 and regret it. I check the Spyderco forums almost daily hoping to see an update.

Any pics of the 2011 sprint?

Isn't that what yablanowitz yablanowitz posted a photo of along w/the original above?

Personally, I don't know what the fuss is all about. I've got an original Ayoob but I do not find it as easy to draw/open as the Karahawk or Introvert, which are my favorite Spyderco SD knives.

For a Spyderco SD knife of comparable size/blade style, I prefer the Tropen over the Ayoob because of the abiity to draw/open more quickly w/the wave tab or doing a quick compression lock release flick which are not possible w/the Ayoob.

It was designed for the old-school "Clipiteer" draw and Spydiedrop opening, then to put the blade point aligned with the bones of the forearm without having to bend the wrist. If you aren't in the habit of drawing and opening your knife that way, it probably isn't the knife for you. Not being a knife fighter, I can't even comment on the thrusting capability, it's not something I do.

And yes, the bottom knife in those two pictures is the G-10 Sprint from 2011. The texture of G-10 seems to make sense, but I find the handle shape secure enough, and the original smooth aluminum draws easier and doesn't eat pockets as fast.

Well I hope it's exactly like the 2011 sprint. The Chinook 4 was a horrible disappointment! I'm still blown away that the Chinook was 4-way clip since the second version just to become a tip up only. I wanted another power lock so bad too.

The bottom picture of the two that Yablanowitz showed us is the 2011, G-10 handled Sprint Run. They are easy to tell apart because the 2002 original version has a shiny almite/aluminum based handle ( scales). The Second one down on YAB's pic is the one you're talking about.

Yeah I do hope at least they stay with a G-10 handle. Because I dearly loved the G-10 handle on the 2011 Sprint Run. It's grip factor is a lot better for I mostly use a knife for. I love that grippy type of G-10 they used on that model.
I'm just on pins and needles wondering which blade steel they are going to use this time around.

I vote CTS-XHP

No objections here if they would decide upon that blade steel. I do know for a fact that XHP does well in PE & SE both. Not all blade steels have that distinction.

I also wouldn't mind to see how M390 would perform in both edge types. Or if they come up with a high end Japanese blade steel you won't get any objections out of me at all. But I do like the fact that they are moving on from VG-10. After all the first two runs of this great model were both done in VG-10.

The G-10 handle on the 2011 Sprint Run of the C-60 Ayoob was close to perfection as far as super functional, nice grip. The G-10 scales on the 2011 Sprint Run were such a vast improvement over the original Almite/aluminum handle of the original 2002 version. It made it a completely new knife all together IMO. I've been carrying/EDCing one of my 2011 Sprite Run models for the past week.

Hi Community!

Being on forum since 2008, finally decide to use my account.

C60 is along with G10 Rookie and hollow grind SE CF Police most desirable Spydies ever (Smallfly luckily appeared last year in my pocket).

It should definately appear with pure CF scales and with SE. Please do not tap for 4-pos clip, keep lanyard hole and Boye detent.

Definately no full flat grind!

I don't understand the design implications very well.
I like that it does look different and in that regard is attractive.

I hope you guys get one and like it when it is released.
