You all know I am a loyal Hanson knife enthusiast.. I was beginning to miss some of my long gone Hanson folders. Here are some teasers I just got from Don for my folding fancy dagger he is currently making... to be followed by a red walrus ivory version of my Hanson MS test blue folder.

I'm extremely excited. After this post, more pics will probably follow as this project continues. I feel I am getting back to my roots and wanted one of these blue daggers for years. If I ever pick a favorite maker, they will join Don because his work is amazing.

This project was talked about for many months, but could not get underway till now.

Solid gold will be added to make this a high end piece. The second folder will be more standard. This knife is also 1/16 " wider then his regular model. Should be between 9-10 inches OAL.

Here is the ivory I selected.

Forging shots..... I wanted particular steels he had to forge. This is a 300 layer ladder pattern for the blade which I asked don to make as tight as his press will allow.

Look closely: He's added a new 'Pirhana-Monster' into the Goblins steel. Perfect.

Love them. Good for YOU!

Good for you Jon, will look forward to seeing the completed project.
The pieces look a little familiar.

Jonathan,

You are lucky I did not win the MegaMillion jackpot.

Don Hanson III would have been on permanent retainer to ME!

Ha! Now that's a MegaMillion dream!!!

Jon, that blue ivory is killer. Can't wait to see the finished knives. You must be going crazy with anticipation.

Jon, thanks for giving us this teaser. I can't wait to see how this one turns out. Congrats!

very pleased for you Jon and Don! Looks to be yet another epic Hanson shaping up here. A great collector brings out the best in a maker!

Good for you, Jon! Sharing your anticipation on both knives. You'll be dancing with all those scary dudes when this is complete.

My plan was not to drag this thread out and just show a few pics and leave it at that.. but you guys keep encouraging me. I definitely don't wanna spoil it before they get Cooped.. So I am not sure how much more I will post.

This will be my largest hanson folder. Most of mine in the past I kept under 8 inches because I wanted them to fit in my display box. This knife will need its own box. Next step is the gold inlays..
