You all know I am a loyal Hanson knife enthusiast.. I was beginning to miss some of my long gone Hanson folders. Here are some teasers I just got from Don for my folding fancy dagger he is currently making... to be followed by a red walrus ivory version of my Hanson MS test blue folder.
I'm extremely excited. After this post, more pics will probably follow as this project continues. I feel I am getting back to my roots and wanted one of these blue daggers for years. If I ever pick a favorite maker, they will join Don because his work is amazing.
This project was talked about for many months, but could not get underway till now.
Solid gold will be added to make this a high end piece. The second folder will be more standard. This knife is also 1/16 " wider then his regular model. Should be between 9-10 inches OAL.
Here is the ivory I selected.
Forging shots..... I wanted particular steels he had to forge. This is a 300 layer ladder pattern for the blade which I asked don to make as tight as his press will allow.
Bolster brick..
The Ladder pattern partially etched
Some progress..
I will post the final images in a new thread.
