Dear Members,

I would like to announce the first public ADVANCED EDGED WEAPONS classes offered by Ernest Emerson and Emerson Combat Systems. These are Hard-Core – Hard Contact Classes designed to prepare you for the harsh realities of a life or death struggle, and the Strategies, Skills, Countermeasures and Mind Set necessary to survive a brutal, armed attack. This class will be two days of punishing physical activity unlike anything you’ve ever experienced (unless you were a Navy SEAL) and you should be prepared to work hard – very hard.

Remember, I lead from the front and if I can do it, you can do it. If it doesn’t work, I don’t teach it. The class is open to the general public but due to the nature of the course, all students will be vetted by our sources. Don’t miss the chance to acquire a skill set that very few will ever have the opportunity to experience.

It was an awesome experience.

** Comment removed as it was poorly worded and explained ** Detailed explanation in proceeding post.

Not controlling the weapon when empty handed would have serious consequences..

When they both had knives it was more practical..

Looks like the empty handed stuff prepares you for death.. That being said this is sparring and the person defending may be fairly new to this..

The point of the drill is to try to go in to an incoming stab, the moment you tangle the weapons arm you break. You will get cut, we are not doing a weapons disarm tactics, does are fantasy. And as far as being new to grappling with someone that has a knife, yes it’s new to me (don’t know many people with a lot of experience with this type of thing) , as well as a lot of the concepts Emerson showed us at the seminar. I highly recommend any one that can, attend one.
Mr. Emerson does actually participate during a lot of the drills, the man is a machine, an at his age puts a lot of us younger guys to shame.

I apologize and I am not trying to rag on you or Mr Emerson. I applaud the fact you are training. My comment was a bit strong so I'll try to word it better.

It is dangerous to train in a way where you are becoming comfortable with a knife that near your neck (especially a double edged dagger). Protecting your vitals and neck is extremely important in a knife fight.

I would be asking your training partner to drop the knife when the arm break is executed (simulating what would happen if his arm broke). You will also be preparing yourself for flying blades (another thing you may need to contend with in a real scenario)...

just a thought...

And I do agree that my first sentence was too heavy handed so I removed it..
