I'm new to the swamp rat knife cult so I don't really understand how to get knives. The store seems to only have rat trap on sale at the moment, is this normal procedure? Is there a way to know when more knives will be available and what they will be?

As a side is it normal for people to buy knives then just sell them a year later for double the price?

thanks for the knowledge

Hi BladeLugger, welcome to the swamp!

Right now things are a bit interesting with the rats. Swamp Rat typically has a standard selection of knives available for purchase. However, since January all of the knives (except the Rat Trap) have been discontinued and are being revamped. The new line is scheduled to be released during Blade Show in June.

In addition to the main company site, there is another entity called the "Company Store" which sells limited production knives as they become available.

As far as the Rats resale, I'll just say that it is typical for the value of Rats to rise, even if they are used. Though most people who buy Rat knives keep them.

Again, welcome to the forum.

Get out while if you still can BladeLugger! Least you become infeQted with Busse/SRKW Fever, an affliction which is very expensive -- and Quite possibly impossible -- to completely eradicate.

Ha! Seriously, where were you a few months ago. Here's my progression.

1) Got a folder (which I won't mention because apparently it's not even good enough to be mentioned in the manufactures discussions - but I still love it)

2) Started carrying it everywhere and found out i loved having a knife with me at all times.

3) Wondered what kind of high end knives were out there.

OOPS. I didn't know how deep the rabbit hole went! Anyway it's too late for me, I'll just try to warn anyone else. Not to mention just my luck - I come along at a time when they are not selling knives!

Holy Rat Qrap Batman: this is EXACTLY what happened to me brother: line for line, word for word, step by step. No lie I tell you the truth. Step 4: I searched high and low. I have looked at 10,000 knives. I decided I need a 6 to 7.5 inch blade that can chop, cut, act as a pry-bar, or hammer a nail. This knife may well have been Le Ratweiler -- however -- upon realization of this fact I discovered that it was no longer available. So over to Busse I went...and it was good. Current status: night sweats, uncontrollable yearning, realization that I may have to spend $450.00 to get what I want, trying not to impulse buy a Busse until I gather all of the options, amd waiting for the new SRKW line, waiting...waiting...waiting...

Thanks for the welcome fellas. :)

And sorry to step on your Topic -- but -- 360joules tell me please about this knife...I was thinking that this is my Holy Grail knife...please tell me all about this particular knife: Desert Natural Outlaw

Ohhhhhhh how I long to hold this knife in my hand...to wrap my fingers around it and feel it's weight in my palm...To cut! perchance to chop:--ay, there's the rub...

step on the topic all you want, it lives and breathes....were you the winner of this blade? it is absoQutly SICK. I could only dream of this thing, the price tag (although well worth it) is above me.

and to make our situations even more similar, the Ratweiler is the knife I am holding out for. I hope after the show they just bring it back as-is....

BladeLugger and Q,
Welcome to the Swamp Rat forum, I'm glad that you stopped by and hope you stick around to join in our conversations.

As far as upcoming knives goes, just stay tuned to this forum (and Blade show if you can make it) and you'll see pics of the new line that is coming out. Prototypes will be displayed at Blade show in just a few weeks. I'm sure pics will be posted here, maybe a few before but for sure all afterwards. Purchase and availibility of the Swamp Rat knives will be changing after Blade show, stay tuned for updates and info

:D:D

Those blades were from the 2003 extravaganzaa. 14 were similar to that one and there were seven that were recurved. Not many at all. Here's a thread that talks about them with links to the original threads. http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=367471&highlight=desert+outlaw

Sweet blade, that's for sure!

Thanks Eric. Unfortunately, I won't be making the blade show. I just recently took the red pill so I will not have time to prepare myself for the sensory overload.

I will be waiting very, very impatiently for any proto-pics and dreaming of the day my credit card gets charged from SWTK.......
