Hey guys,
A few years ago I drew out a couple small tomahawk or hatchet designs. I'm about to start a new project and since I had room left on the sheet of steel I'm using I figured I'd tweak my tomahawk design and have a couple water jet cut along with it. Here's a mockup I made using some 1/4 inch hard board.
It will be cut out of 1/4 inch 80crv2.
Just wondering what you guys think.
Oh and the pole will have extra bits added to make a useable hammer poll and the exposed tang at the bottom doesn't serve a purpose I just like it.

Oh and just to cover my basis I love the Jenny wren I own a kestrel raj was deffinatly a huge influence on this design.

That looks really nice! What the OAL? and what are you shooting for the weight to be?

Thanks!
Over all length is about 11 3/4 inches
Cutting edge is about 3 1/2 inches
I have no idea what the weight will be but I plan on skellitanizing the tang.

Nice I like your design and look forward to the finished project. Please keep us informed.

Thanks, I'm excited about it this is what I've been wanting for when I'm walking around the woods and when I'm camping. Small and useable, do you guys thinks 3/16th thick scales would be enough? I want to keep it thin.

Here a picture of the design so you can get a better idea since I lose some detail in the mock up.

Looks good. You going to sharpen the beard? For me it's a major feature for trimming and trail clearing.

I might grind the beard on the spiked one but on the hammer polls I don't think so if never needed a sharpened beard on an axe intended as a tool. Not saying it hasn't come in handy for others but I don't thinks it's nessasary I'd be more likely to hurt myself.

got some time in the garage today so i countersunk and tapped the hammer poll bits. Still have to clean up and sand the edges to flush everything up but its very close. I am very happy with how tight everything fits.
