My mission for the year is to step it up a notch! That has been my focus all year, nothing but the best comes out of the shop. I am taking even longer to make my knives and I feel it is well worth it. I am getting faster but each knife gets more attention. I have always done my best but I want my knives to be the very best.

I am currently trying to get everyone's order taken care of on time while maintaining creative output and coming up with new designs. I feel it is going well and each knife is better than the last.

OK now more fun stuff...

Knife plans!

Rigging Knives - Prototypes are in the works and I have more planned in stainless steel and Titanium

Legal EDC's - these are already in the works! 4.5" Full sized handle, 3" blade great for every day carry

Big Choppers - I have a bunch of chopper orders I'm making soon along with some cool new designs!

More Big/larger fixed blade EDC's - the Havok V, Harpoon Tips, more fun stuff!

Swords - I have a Wakichete order I am starting soon and I will complete my 24" and 36" swords... later on look out for a full on tactical katana with tsuba!

Titanium - much more Ti later, I am trying to get a better setup to cut my Ti at the moment

Titanium Backpacker - I'm making a new version for hiking, mountain climbing, ultralight camping, sailing and diving. I hope to do a huge run later this year, this one has been in the plans for a while and I have some great ideas for the knife.

Machetes - I really hope to get to some soon, I want to make a ton... If I get more caught up on orders I want to try a run later this spring. I may farm out the heat treat on these so I can get them out faster.

Friction Folders - later this year I want to do a big run! These will be ultra simple and super light.

Neckers - I plan on a possible tanto run in A2 steel, these will be available in lots of colors, light weight and made for every day carry

I'm sure I'm forgetting something...

I have a full order book (two actually) so all kinds of knives will be made, look out!

Steel!

Look out for more S7, CPM-3V, A2, D2, and other high quality tool steels. I also plan on using more and more stainless steels, after testing some 154cm I am very excited about the performance.

Scales

I have so much nice material! I want to use more of my own handmade material as well as composites from Shadetree, look out for more cool handle material! More silver twill and carbon fiber is also planned. Layered material too!

What do you guys want to see? :D

Fairly Titanium Framelock in CPM-3V with a blade profile similar to your fighter. Or, a folder version of the Havok V :)

Hoping my chopper is one of the cool new designs!!!!!! Daniel what I like is you treat everyone as a friend and give first class treatment to your customers. I personally feel more like a friend than a customer! That is why I will keep supporting you in any way I can!.....................Mike,owner of one DFK kick ass chopper and have an order in for another kick ass chopper that is going to blow people away!!!!

Daniel, this all sounds more than awesome! I have really come to like your style even more over the last year, even liking some of the synthetics your using now! Generally I prefer natural materials, and I personally would like to see some more from you, maybe also combining your previous interests with gems and minerals into synthetic handles. I'll keep in the back of my mind to look for scavenged/salvaged teak planks, or maybe even other woods from old boats. I think that would be awesome!

Just remember to save some of Jade's onesies to make some mycarta with for her first knife!

Both ideas sound really nice, I'm on it! A big goal of mine is to having a working framelock prototype by the end of the year. The fighter and Havok style blades would be excellent.

The chopper is for sure! That is really good to hear, I have met some really good people here. I have been in a lot of trades and owned a few businesses, knife people are by far the best! I enjoy making the knives but you guys really make it a pleasure.

I'd like to see locking folders in an EDC size.

Sounds great! I'm thinking maybe 4" closed, 3" blade maybe .125" thick, heavy duty Titanium lock side and a roller bearing pivot. I want it to be super heavy duty but not overkill, an EDC has to be light in my opinion.

I'd like to make the prototype and have two versions; a great EDC size and a really huge folder.

Cool! I may start using more wood on occasion, I really like the stabilized woods. My biggest concern with wood is that it can move or crack but some woods are super stable.

African blackwood is a consideration, I like the pure black look it has and it doesn't crack like ebony can... that and cocobolo seem to be two great woods to work with in their raw form. I'd really like to try some stabilized redwood, koa, and a few others with nice figure as well. Teak planks would be cool, I could send them off for stabilization and they might work out very nicely. :D

I am going to start using more stone for sure, in fact I have a fighter almost ready with a Dinosaur bone menuki that I hand cut myself!

It's funny, I started off wanting to only do art knives with stone handles and I still haven't made one from scratch. I saw the beauty and the toughness of G10 and it won me over.

I have about 100 pounds of slabbed stone I have traded for over the years, I used to mine my own material and trade it. (my friend had a claim for rhodonite/pyroxmangite and it is the cool stuff with gold, etc! google Astorite... it wasn't the Astor mine but a nearby claim) I have everything from Australian Black Jade, Ethiopian Welo Opal, Desert Scene Jasper, Coral to Turquoise and Seraphenite, mostly collected by friends on the net. I really want work with all of it in knife form!

Keep me posted on the machetes & choppers, might be 2 buyers here!!

Will do! I'm making a few choppers somewhat soon, I have them planned after the Legal EDC's I have started now.

I have been researching machetes and spending some time drawing up designs for the last few evenings. Here's the ideas I have so far...

DFK Machete - 20" long, easy to sharpen straight blade edge with the weight at the tip for power. Super thin (between 1/16" and 3/32") fast and light so you can carry it anywhere. They will have a tip that has a point yet still digs, a nice G10/micarta handle secured with flared tube and a knocker pommel.

Backpack Machete - 16" long, will fit inside almost any small backpack for camping, put it in your Bug out bag and it won't add much weight. You could make a log cabin with it if you needed to!

I'd like to have both of these at a reasonable price point and make a ton of them, I need one! I'm tired of cheap machetes falling apart on me plus the heat treat never seems right on them to me... these will be custom and made for use! I am probably going to use 15n20 steel which I posted information on below. I also consider some in CPM-3V or S7, they would cost a fair bit more but would be the ultimate machete!

15n20

15n20 steel - it is just super tough stuff! I have tested it and I am really happy with the performance. It is essentially 1075 with Nickle added, it is used for commercial wood processing bandsaw blades! The 2% nickle adds toughness and corrosion resistance.

Thanks! It is going to be a great year!

I didn't mention more D2 tantos and CPM-3V fighters but I'll be doing runs of both this year. So much in store... :D

Thanks everyone for the input and encouragement!

Too much cool stuff upcoming from the Fairly shop.
I still need a Fairly chopper & a straight edged machete sounds great,as does a frame lock folder, though I'm not much of a folder hoarder.
I would love either a frame or liner lock made along the lines of the Silver Twill & Ti Friction Folder you just did.
I EDC a Kershaw Shallot because of it's slimness & one hand opening, but would like it in a better stainless steel like 154 or 3V.

i might need a 2nd job just to keep up with the stuff youll be making !
everything on your list sounds like stuff i want/need hahaha
