Unfortunately, with 200 dollars to spend I have no options with a new BM, as the only model left with a thumb hole are the Griptilian.

I even made a "thumb hole" taking off the studs on the 300sn. The afck was perfect, why did they ever let that one go?

So BM, why not make more with a thumb hole and expand the market to people like me who refuse to get a folder with studs?

The Rift and Contego have plenty of room to cut out a hole, come on!!!

The 800 is one of those designs, along with the smaller 812, that should've been on the market longer. Any of us that seriously collect these things should own one of these. Between the blade and Spydie hole it's simply an awesome design...and there's nothing wrong with the Hitachi ATS-34 steel. I've always liked the hole over studs, much easier to clean. Cheers!

I don't even touch the blade when opening or closing my Benchmades, I just use the Axis lock. Same goes for my Manix 2 and PM2 from Spyderco. So it doesn't really matter to me if it has a thumbstud or a hole, though one thing I do like about the thumb hole is it doesn't get in the way when cutting or sharpening.
