Update today I was contacted by Leesa - dave’s wife
She says thank you all for the kind thoughts and prayers! She feels like half of her is missing…
She has asked me to let everyone know that please don’t ask on dave’s collection as she is still in shock on loosing him. She will need time to sort her life out with out Dave …
When she gets to the pont of being able to handle that she will let folks know of that. And thanks in advance for that

To the other mods she does not know how to get into his account here at blade forums
If you can provide any assistance on that please contact me and I will relay that information to her!

I would hope that people have not asked his wife about his collection. That would be absolutely no class and disgusting.

If she has access to his email, she should be able to request either the password or change the password to get into his account.

Spark Spark

Perhaps Spark can help with this. He's the only one that should, by rights, as the owner of this site.

And Daniel is quite right. Please give the family space and time to sort things out in their own way in their own time.

hopefully no one has and she's eliminating in advance anyone who might try, so doesn't even happen. agreed would be very low class asking about David's collection.

110Dave, If she has reached out to you, please contact Spark and tell him one of his moderators has passed away and his wife would like a copy of all the posts that members of Blade Forums have posted in the Buck Forum. You can contact me for assistance if needed. 300Bucks

Not being more than just a casual lover of Buck I didn't know him like many of you did, but ye certainly had great taste in knives and was a very welcomed knowledgeable member of this place
His presence on this forum will certainly not go unnoticed.

I believe that Vickie said there were peps that asked about her husband’s knives very quickly after he passed
People do that … crude but some times it may pay off for them I guess
I’ve heard the reasoning as they will have to do so sooner or later and if not me some one else will
I had been in contact with them about doing some scrimshaw for me
Dave was nice to me when I was a newbe…
Tomorrow I will message spark

Boy oh boy, I really hope she is thinking ahead and no one has actually asked about buying his collection. Poor judgement if it happened.

I'm behind the curve on this. Does she not have access to his email account associated with his profile?

It's common. One well known highly respected purveyor did it routinely. He's notorious for doing it per midwest gun show scuttlebut. Pissed some widows off though who were smarter than him and he was preferentially excluded from some collections...had to be the #2 buyer to get some knives.

At least its not as bad as the scum who use the obits to pick houses and times to break in while people are at the funeral.

How can one be considered highly respected, if they are known to be notorious for routinely exploiting the death of collectors by harassing their widows at the worst possible time, just to get a jump on "harvesting" their collection? That's plain despicable.

That's why I have instructions in my will that should my Wife get contacted like that, she is to specifically ban all of those individuals from being able to buy anything, when she liquidates my knife and firearm collection.

I purposely quoted you as I believe this speaks volumes for many of us here and needed repeating.
And, thanks for that ‘will’ idea, I’m going to do the same.

We have told our kids that if they do not want the various collections intact, there are a number of different dealers and other collectors available to help them dispose of "all the stuff". All written down and kept with the wills.

That's a great idea... I need to update my will with that kind of info. I furnished lots of info regarding values and pointed out which items were of higher value due to scarcity/uniqueness, but realized now with your post, that I need to pass on advice about how my wife should go about disposing things, and resources.

To that end, I trust the people here, so as part of my "upon my death" documentation that I keep on a flash drive for her, I've added my logon information for this forum so she can seek guidance.
