*update: all gone* Could you use some free Ebony & Elk materials?

I have some extra Indian Ebony and Canadian Elk that I would like to give to someone who can use it on a custom traditional or rework. I ask a few things in return:

1. You must have over 50 posts in the traditional forum
2. You must intend to use the materials on a traditional knife and share some photos of the work at your convenience
3. If you use the materials to rehaft or rework a vintage knife (1970s or earlier), you must initial the inside of the liner to indicate that the knife has been altered.

In your post, say whether or not you could use the elk or ebony or both. If you can use both that's great. Also, please describe your project(s). If you are a knife maker member, then no description is necessary. ;) Two ebony blocks are shown but I'm keeping one--don't care which one. You can pick if you want. I showed a knife next to the ebony for comparison of size. Keep in mind that the knife is oiled and waxed so the color is darker. The rough cut ebony blocks will appear much darker when they are polished and oiled/waxed. There's a bit of wax on the end of one of the blocks and you can see the color is jet black.

Shipping within the USA please.

Any one at any level is welcome. If you are a beginner that's fine. It's just supposed to be fun.

I can't seem to contact you through bladeforums. If you click on my user name, there will be a link to send me an email.

Wonderful offer, hope we're going to see some great results from it

Hmmm. I didn't receive the email but I seem to be able to receive email from other Bladeforums members. I checked the spam folder and wasn't there either. My user name on gmail is....

Thank you, Jack!

Its because I'm not a subscribed member I can't send private messages and you closed visitor messages which is the only messaging free basic members can use. You'll have to leave me a visitor message with your email in order for me to respond.

I could use some of the ebony. I have a couple knives I want to re-scale this winter, between painting a bedroom and rebuilding my 1971 Honda. I'll post pictures when I get around to doing them.

Great! Please email or pm your shipping address.

Very cool offer Jake. That ebony is gorgeous. I do have a few knives in the works and have just been hemming and hawing over what material to use, but it sounds like you got some folks interested. And truth be told I'm not too sure between work and work when I'll get the chance. All best to whomever gets it and hope to see the results.

That Elk shows a lot of potential, it's going to look spectacular on the right knife! Looking forward to seeing this develop, a really worthwhile project and kind offer.

Thanks, Will

Thank you, guys.

I think I may be completely out of the ebony blocks but we'll see.

I think the elk is still available. It's a difficult material to work with so it's probably best suited for someone with some experience. It can be a headache (same as stag). But it would look great on the right knife.

Jake, I have some Ettricks on order from three different knife makers. The curved handles might suit the Elk very well - what do you think??

Here are three made by John Lloyd:

Neat knives, Charlie! I think it may be a perfect match!

I think I'm all out of materials. After I have the shipping addresses, I'll get these sent out. It will be fun to see this material on knives but there's no rush for photos. I appreciate the interest, guys! Great projects!

I have two knife blanks and a kitchen paring knife that needs a new handle. I am going to attempt these as my first "hobby" job. I could use the ebony - Thanx

I could, but the quantity you have ... way more than I need. Heck, one 5 inch slab is more than I need to recover that old jack knife I have.
