Ok Just got to a hotel with decent Net coverage. Family been living in hotels in the Tulsa area for a couple of days now. The first one claimed to have net coverage and a pool. Well thier net covrage was one computer by the front desk with a 30 minute limit. The pool was drained and wasn't scheduled to be filled for a couple of weeks, electronic locks only worked when they wanted t and after two days of this family checked out and moved to another one that actually delivers on it promises. Any smoke sent this way for family harmony during this three week period would be appericiated.

Old house is just two days away from being sold....
Started new job this week in Tulsa..looks like it's going to go well. I will know for sure after next week.

Paper based on my master thesis was presented in Philadelphia last week to a packed house and was recieved extremely well. Gentleman behind me was presenting on a almost identical topic and commented in his presentation on my presentation.

Unfortunately looks like we are still two weeks away from closing on the house we want to purchase in Sand Springs. Good news is we just found out the property is on a very overgrown acre and a half...anybody got any kukris they want to experiment with :)

Think my M-43 is going to get a work out, and it'll be a good way to compare with a couple of other imported Kukhris that I have.

Oh yeah if you read my post in the main forum. I ordered another Kuk from Georgia around the time I graduated as a present to myself. they let me know it was on backorder. I told them I still wanted the blade but could they delay shipment until the end of the month. Recieved an e-mail yesterday saying my blade had shipped to my old address.

Currently trying to see if a friend can pick it up and give it to me when I am in town for the closing of the old house.

EDIT:
His wife just called me it's been picked up and awaiting.

Anyway the beautiful one is wanting me to go out to the car and get the dirty laundry so it can be washed tomorrow, so I gotta go

Marc, Welcome to the Greater Tulsa Area!   I live on the east side of Tulsa just south of Catoosa. I hope you picked out a house in a higher area in Sand Springs as some of the low lying areas were flood prone many, many, years ago. IIRC there has only been one serious flood in that area since Keystone Dam was built and the A.C.o.E. let out too much water.
Who are you going to work for if I may ask?
Anyway you're among friends here as there are a couple of others who are members here who live in or close to Tulsa.

When you get settled in and after I recover enough from the back surgery I'm having pretty soon you'll have to come over and check out my collection even though I'm all the way across town from Sand Springs.:D
Dean also lives here in Tulsa although we haven't seen much of him here for a while now. Dean is the one who started the Tips, Tricks, and Useful Finds thread that is a sticky in the main HI Forum and has quite a collection himself.
And Terry Sisco lives up in Claremore and does great khukuri mods and repairs as well as scabbard work. :D
It's great to have another HI member here in town!  :D

will pray from here.

being between moves must be very tough.

Moving with a house unsold is not recommended either!

Hope it all works out, and you all get settled soon.

Glad to hear the job looks like it will work out.

Just keep a sharp eye out for those Austrian spears!!

;)

Thanks Yvsa,

The house is on a hill and my employeer is CETCON Inc.
I will be doing Environmental Emission Testing. Which is a fancy way of saying I'm going to be climbing smokestacks and dropping sample probes in them.

I look forward to seeing your collection. Mine is just now getting started. But I am thinking about adding a Malla and one of the special order blades, the name escapes me now.

EDIT:
Found it the blade is The 19th-century Dui-Chirra
What can I say I like the historical Kukhris.

One thing I'm finding out about tulsa is that it is a hotbed of activiity for certain intrests of mine. In the past I was't able to participate due to finances but now hey I now live here :)
I have already touched based with ne group and I look forward to eventually meeting the HI crew here.

The original plan was for me to head up here and the wife would stay in norman untill the house there sold. ( we were expecting the house to take longer to sell not less than 12 hours later)

It will work out, Just need to keep focused on the goal and keep in mind that this is just a short term thing.

Thanks for picking up on the screenname reference. although I will say don't belive everthig you read :)

Over on the Swiss Rifle forum, someone suggested his last words were actually "Who pushed me?!".

:D

Tom

Thanks for the Reference,
tiptoeing around the topic,
The story of Arnold ( As I Call him) makes a wonderfull patriotic story.
But like George Washington and the cherry tree story.......It probaly didn't happen, at least not at Sempach.

Also on a somewhat diffrent note, What kind of Swiss rifle(s) do ya own?
I used to have a convertd Smidt-Rubin ( forget the actuall model)

Right now, just a converted 1911 Infantry rifle, which has been rechambered to .308.

I long to re acquire a nice 96/11 rifle though, my favorite for sure. The K31 is nice, as so many accessories are available. Love to get them all, someday, all the way back to the muzzle loaders...

Tom

Be carefull, The one I had was also converted to .308 and the extractor failed.

yeah...

The rim size on the 308 class of cartridges is smaller than the 7.5 Swiss.

The 30-30 is more similar in rim size, and some of the 1889's were so converted, as they cannot handle 308 pressure levels.

Waiting for parts to restore the trigger pull to a safe level, and a functional rear sight before I shoot it.

Tom

Wish I had known that about a decade ago :(

Now on the other hand I really like the slick straight pull of the Smidt-Rubin.
Wished there was a steady supply of the 7.5 Swiss

GP11 is available fairly often, and 7.5 is being newly manufactured now, as well as brass.

:)

K 31's are still fairly cheap right now also.

Tom

well we were going to close on the house this week. Mortage company is draging it's heels. The spouse and the realator won't let me bring my museum model when they talk to them :(

spouse muttered something to the effect that a lawyer has now gotten involved. The ultimatium was for every day past the 28th that it took them to get the loan to us, the company would pay off $2000 of the original negotiated loan, and possibility of hotel fees and per diem.

Now this is strictly rumor. I was at work when this all went down.
so we will see what happens

Marc Adkins

Any news on the houses yet?
