Well we made it home about a hour and a half ago. Andrew is resting comfortably in my comfy chair and is very glad to be home. He was released from the hospital this morning and then we had to go to a Oral Surgeon in Columbus where it was discovered that he had a broken Pallet and several fractures in his jaw and needed another surgery to repair the pallet and to fix the jaw and place screws into his jaw to hold the teeth into place and then had his mouth rubber banded shut for the next four weeks. This was very concerning to Andrew as he was due to have his braces off in three weeks. Not to be I guess.

It was a long drive home with many traffic delays but Andrew rested in my arms most comfortably. THe thing that tore me up the most is when he said "Dad I am so glad that this happened to me rather than you" ....To wit I replied while gulping back tears..." Well Bud,,,some day we will debate that"

So I am very thankful to have my son alive and healing at home. I am also very touched by the visit of Barb to our hospital room and the prayers and well wishes and PMs from everybody in this forum. I count you as friends and thank you all...I will keep you updated..

What great news. Bad enough he's got some damage, but it's obviously the least of possible bad outcomes. You obviously had a lot to do with getting him taken care of quickly and properly.

And it sounds like you've got a tough kid there!

A very tough kid, indeed.

But he still needs his Papa! You just earned your PhD in Dad, my friend!;)

Ren, hang in there, and get that boy well soon. Wishing Andrew a speedy recovery!

Just keep the healing coming Ren. Tough spot for us Dads. Sending the International Tribes Mojo to ya!

Hi Ren,

The severity of what may have happened is incomprehensible. I am SOOO relieved that he is well. Pardon me for not knowing, but Andrew sounds like a young boy. How old is he?

I wish you both better times ahead. Thanks for being a great father.

Glad to hear he is getting better. Good kid you've got there, strong in will AND character; you've raised him well.
Take care of him.

Hey Ren, I'm glad to hear that all is as well as it could be, and I am greatly relieved that you are all back in the comfort of home. Our prayers are still with all of you.

Ren,
Great news. Sorry to hear about his jaw, but at least it sounds like he'll recover. Good thoughts from here.

I'm relieved to hear that Andrew was able to come home so soon. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

best wishes man, sounds like you raised yourself a tough lil dude. and word of advice from a recovered opiate addict if they gave him scripts for percoset vicodin or any other opiod painkiller I suggest you ration them out to him, as opiate addiction is no fun and I'd hate to see any kid go through what I've been through with that shit. good luck mang.

Ren,

Your post made my day. I'm so relieved and happy to hear that Andrew is doing well and should make a good recovery.

Good to hear the news, he sounds strong and positive, draw on that strength when you have to, and give it when you can. Hang in there!
