For those that missed the original flamefest, you can check it out here:

Anyway, I got a package from Benchmade today that contained a brand new Axis AFCK. It's been about two weeks since I sent mine off so I consider this to be great turn around time.

The new Axis AFCK does not have problems like the last one did, despite my technique being exactly the same.

I'm now a happy camper.

Thought y'all should know.

Very glad to hear that the problem was resolved to your satisfaction. Good luck with the knife. Now I may also have to get one.

Things like this is one of the reasons that I am a big BM fan. I have a few BM knives (5) and I have always received this type of customer service anytime that I have ever had a problem. Glad to see that your problem was resolved quickly.

Yep, things like this, and my prying apart a short split piece of red oak last night! More or less on a lark (and being too lazy to go down the steps to the basement for the 7th time in one night), I stabbed the tip down into a crack in the end of the piece. When I heard the oak fibers give a little, I continued working the knife down until I had about half the blade length into the crack. Then I pried and twisted until the piece split!

Abusive? Maybe, but I can't see (or feel) that the knife is any the worse for wear. The coating isn't even marred at all. The A-AFCK is one awesome folder! :D

Any word on what exactly was wrong with the other one?

The note from warranty read as follows:

We have replaced your knife. I did test it and it doesn't fail. Steve is following up with the knife you returned. We have never had one fail before.

So it looks as if their investigation is ongoing.

So what happened to that other thread? I got a notification of update (I had "subscribed" to it), but by the time I got a chance to click on it and look at the thread, the link was defunct. Any ideas???

rockspyder,

someone posted to the old thread only to ask what ended up happening. I then told them about this thread. I have no idea what happened to the old thread since then. Deleted maybe?
