Update on Rusty. I'm back from St. Marys.

I went to see Rusty at St. Marys and as I predicted he's a tough little bird and is going to be hard to kill.

First, his angiogram looked good so he has only the leg to deal with. It's a compound fracture and he may need a tapered steel tang screwed to his bones to put them back in line but we can do that. He looked good and was the same old Rusty that I've known. He sends his best to all along with thanks for prayers.

I was expecting much worse and am delighted that Rusty is looking good, fighting with the hospital personnel, and is generally behaving like that special 12 inch Sirupati he likes so much (special thanks to Finn from Rusty for that advice).

Bottom line I think Rusty is going to have to put up with some misery in the short term but long term looks very good. Thanks to the Lord and all of you for help.

I asked Rusty how he managed to break his leg and he said "I fell asleep standing up, fell and caught my leg between a table and chair."
???????????????????????????????

I printed out the thread about Rusty & Prayers and tool it up to him but he said he would read it all later after I was gone.

In all, I'm very happy and relieved. I think all is going to be okay.

Harry, the apothocary, has volunteered to fill in for Rusty in moderating the forum so until Rusty is back up and running you can torment Harry as much as he will allow.

Thanks again all from both Rusty and me. Great forumites make a great forum. We both send our great blessings to all.

That's good news, Uncle. Glad to hear everything is going well, now.

BTW, should we start making a wood model of the tapered tang to send to BirGorkha on Rusty's behalf? It sounds like a job for Bura, to me. We could call it the Rusty's leg special... (Just kidding, really).

Well that's really wonderful news!!!!
Really glad the angiogram came back okay!!!!!!

Fell asleep standing up!!!! I thought I was the only one who did that.
I sometimes wake up at night wanting a smoke and I don't trust myself to set down with something that could set the house afire if I happened to drop it, so I smoke standing up at the kitchen sink.
And I have caught myself a few times.

This is good cause to pause, and reconsider keeping the WebTV....
I run mine off a TV tray, from a recliner. Even with my advanced talents (I can trip on a piece of lint) it is very difficult to fall out of a recliner.
Rusty:
Play it cool with the nurses - the nastier ones have been known to slip itching powder into leg casts.
Terry:
Still can't see the right half of your site - do you have a sheath that will attach to a crutch???

Glad to hear that Rusty is all right.

I'll bet that Rusty's Kama Sutra Khukuri Oil had something to do with the situation...

a tapered steel tang, you say?
sounds like a job for Ortho-Kami. Rusty will now have to decide if he wants his repaired leg to be light and slashing-fast (where's Kumar?) or beefy and hard to lift (calling Sher).

Rusty is doing better. Saw him last night for awhile and he's cheerful and hopeful. He's going to get some surgery to put the bones back in line and get them hooked together but not quite sure when surgery will take place.

I printed out the threads and I think he was quite pleased to hear from all us forumites.
More later. I'm off to the VA hospital this AM.

Take over, Harry!
