Gang, here's an email I sent to Uncle Bill today along with his reply.

Blessings from the computer shack in Reno."

Anyway there you have it gang. It is still in the works but slow due too the reasons stated.:grumpy:
If I were younger, hell! If I were even in decent health and able too run 300 meters I'd say let's get a platoon together and go over and kick some Maoist's asses while squeezeing And Grinding another part of their anatomy between the jaws of 300 pound Pit Bulls crossed with Alligators.
Between Rusty, Munk, myself and a few others we would have enough armament to equip everybody here and then some.
And it would put an end too the incessant threads about, "Which khuk would you take to the war?" as well.:p :D ;)

Hell with enough good skunk cannibis and a few of those morphine pills Uncle takes I might still be up for
it!!!! :D  :D ;)

My email address is still valid. If you guys don't mind Nagants, I could equip a squad. I got dibs on the M38 with the synthetic stock - don't touch that one.

In all seriousness, bad news indeed but I'll try to see the good in the bad: when things get better for Nepal, things will get better for us.

JS, you can read about the FF here:

Yvsa, thanks for the update and sorry about the situation in Nepal. I was wondering about the progress of the FFs but didn't want to bother Uncle Bill. I know the wait is tough on you. The FF was something of an impulse for me and I'm anxiously waiting.

I'd join up with you in a heartbeat, as a group of deprived HIKV addicts would give the Maoists a run for their money.

Jeb, skunk canabis can be found in the woods here in Kali. You can pick it for free, just like wild mushrooms, 'cept sometimes folks shoot at ya  :D Looks kinda like a fern, it does.

Count me in. I got a beat-up WW II Mauser 98K and a .50 wheel lock pistol. Let's go get 'em. :grumpy: :grumpy: :grumpy:

Thanks, Yvsa, for the Foxy Folly update I've been hoping for.

I read the news... wondering how the Nepal situation with the King might affect our family and the FF project.

My passport is up-to-date. 'Nuff said.

Ahhhhh, I see ;) . I hear we have some of that stuff around here. I hear it must be consumed in huge ammounts to get any "medicinal benefits". Michigan isnt a great place to grow wild ferns.

Yes, Jeb, the skunk is quite low on the medicinal herb totem pole. It's cousins grow here as well. Perhap's it is why Kali has happy cows :p

Yvsa, do you know if the Kamis ever started the project? I sure hope that they make it right for you folks. I won't be able to get one of the scheduled shipment, perhaps I can get a straggler down the road.

Well now that Jeb knows what skunk cannibis is and what a Foxy Folly is I can only tell you that I don't know for sure but am almost certain they got started on the prototypes. If everything goes all right maybe they'll get here in a month to six weeks.
We all know these things take time. Once they get full approval I think we'll have the special run in short order.
BUT, The prototype must be right or we start over again with Uncle Bill and Yangdu's consent.
It would be a helluva shot in the arm for HI too see that it is done and done right though!
With as many as we have, what 27 the last time I looked? It will be a helluva lot of money at one whack!!!!:D

Steve, if it warn't illegal I'd ask you too send me some, but the way the drug sniffin dogs are now they could smell skunk weed a mile off, hell A human can smell it from several feet!!!! :D
Some good weed would go a long ways in making Uncle Bill be able too eat as well as feel better but I ain't suggesting that.
Just what I would do if I were in that shape.:( :grumpy:

I hear you, Yvsa. I haven't played with the stuff for many, many years. I do believe, however, that it can definitely be of a benefit to folks with certain medical probs. Folks suffering from pain + nausea + loss of appetite being at the top of the lists. It is sad that it is illegal to medicate yourself, but legal for others to do it to you (as long as it cost big $$ and the gov can get its cut) :grumpy:

I sure do hope that this one comes out light enough to be usable. Foxies original was nice looking, but just soooooooo heavy.

Me Too Steve, Me Too! :D If the kamis hold it at the 24-28 ounce specs we set it should be right in there! That will put the 17" Foxy Folly between 1-1/2 and 1-3/4 pounds, light enough to not be tiresome and heavy enough to do some real work! :D
Munk isn't talking through his hat when he talks about the 28 ounce khuks being the most prevalent in the most useable khukuris.
That particular weight works and the kamis know it works!:D  :D

Edit:
And personally I have come to believe that, for me at least, the 17" khukuri is the best average length going.
It is neither too long nor too short, just right if you will.
The Sgt Karka I got a little while ago is 17 3/4" from point to end of tang and weighs just 23 ounces!
But the last 3/4" is the rounded part of the butt, there's only a keeper on it with the bare wood underneath.
It is beautiful!!!!:D
It's a bit on the light side for me but is an ideal carrying khuk for either belt or backpack duty and it's lovely too boot with a really well made scabbard that fits better than any I've seen for many a moon!!!!
I see no reason at all that the kamis can't meet our specs.

And if for some reason the deal should fall through then perhaps we can get Uncle Bill and Yangdu to order us a run of 17" BDCs.
I would settle for that if I absolutely had too and I would still buy two of them.
I want too make a nice carved shield too mount a pair of matched khukuris on so I can hang it in the living room somewhere.;)

Yvsa:

If these ever make an appearance, and if any go unclaimed, I'd sure like a "shot" at buying one. Know I am late to the party on this. Your efforts to make this a reality began before I ever knew about this Forum. Thanks,

Jeff

Yvsa,
I am happily awaiting these coming to completion. I love my full sized FF. It is just too darn large to use for very long. At least for me that is!! I know. I am somewhat of a wimp! ;) I look forward to a more normal size and weight FF. Fingers crossed!

I have plenty of khukuris so waiting for this one is no problem. I'd rather that it be light and right and take a longer time than fat and heavy and get here soon ;)
