Update on the Biggyback?

no I mean the piggyback XL, which we've been calling the BIGgyback on these boards

Daddy want. :D

I asked Toooj at SMKW's, it might be in by January, perhaps not.

If I was to bet, I would say, SHOT in January, but I don't know, honestly.

I thought I remembered reading that Steve posted a pic on his JAB Facebook page, but I didn't have any luck with Google and I shut down my FB so I can't access the site.

Anyway, sounds like we'll just need to be patient and wait. And if it's debut is at SHOT, then if it's anything like the tweeners we really won't see much unless Moose can get a few spare seconds to take photos himself (n.b. KA-BAR SHOT activity is generally not marketed to the buyers, so we won't see much from them).

ETA: Here's the thread where I first read about it, and Steve posted some really interesting stuff talking turkey about the knife: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/964513-JAB-Prototype-quot-Survey-quot

I remember hearing about this blade, but I haven't seen it (I don't facebook either), and I actually don't know exactly how much larger said "biggyback" is than the piggyback.

But I too will be interested to hear about said new blade.

Brilliant work moose. That blade looks to be about 4 - 5in long or so, and totally does look like the piggyback. is that hollow ground?

I'm interested, could be a nice budget blade if it what we hear is true :).

That is a nice looking knife for sure, I like the sheath :D Oh whiskerbiscuits are a gift from god. Nice picture.

weird, I had a post but it got eated...

Moose, THANK YOU for digging up photos. You are so reliable.

This is SUCH a cool looking knife, and I like that it appears as if scales will be made available for it. Doesn't appear that it will take the full-size JAB handles, which is too bad since there are so many colors available for those now, but that's okay. Looks fairly thick, but the hollow grind should make 'er pretty slicey (it is hollow ground right?).

I had said earlier in the year that I was going to take a year off from buying any new knives, but if this bad boy is released within the next few months then I think I'm in trouble...

Also, I just realized:
Becker Tweener - CHECK (announced 2011)
JAB Tweener - CHECK (announced 2012)
Toooj Tweener - STILL WAITING (2013 looks wide open :D )

I have to get me one of these. I really like the piggyback and can't wait for this larger version.

All,

The Biggyback will be available for SHOT 2013 in January. It will have a textured handle similar to the JAB and Zombie handles. The sheath will be a very well made cordura and liner issue.

Hope this helps.

Great, we have pictures and we have a timeline!

Reminders to everyone that last year when the Becker Tweeners debuted at SHOT, we actually didn't see or hear much* from the show and I don't think any of us civilians actually owned one until March or April. So patience and tempered expectations are recommended.

* Moose absolutely did get us some spy photos and tidbits, but he was busting his hump working for KA-BAR so unfortunately had very limited time/opportunity.

And I won't be going to SHOT this year, unfortunately. Work demands that I not get away, and with no time off yet, it seems the Kabar crew will be sans Moose in Vegas.

Man, I really want some more of that skirt steak dinner thing we had too. Damn that was good.

Moose

Bummer. So we might not actually see a single thing from SHOT...

... unless someone hooks me up with a pass. Me and my camera are only a short 5 hour drive away :)

Mooose,

Sorry you won't be there. We want you there just to show Ethan how a true BeckerHead should work. We'll have a steak for you in abstentia.

BRL,

This year NSSF is being really stingy with passes. We barely have enough for our people. Getting a pass may be very difficult this year.

Toooj, what is the thickness of that Biggyback ? It looks plenty thick, just curious, cause you know i like HEAVY DUTY ! LOL :D I will have to get one of those. :D DON'T CHANGE THE JIMPING AT THE FRONT, VERY USEFUL FOR SKINNING ! :D Diggin' it. There should be a lanyard hole though.
