Some of you might remember a while back I decided to strip a coated Pauls Hatchet.

This is what she looked like after the strip.

I said I wanted to satin her up and drop in some scales. Took me a while but she is almost done.

After a bit...... ok maybe a lot, of sanding:

And after more sanding, tons of mistakes, sore arms and a grin of accomplishment. Here she is almost done. Sorry for the low light pics, Ill try to get some more in daylight once Im done.

This was my first time making scales for a knife, it certainly wont be my last. It was a blast and I learned a lot. The wood in case anyone is wondering is Ironwood. Still needs a couple more rubs with higher end grits to really pop.

That's is SWEET man nice work. Was the ironwood hard to work with?

Thanks man. I dont have experience working with any other wood so I cant really compare it to anything. I can say however that it is a very hard wood and kinda flaky when going at it with the drill. Besides that its pretty good, takes really well to sanding, its really cool to see the different tones kick in as you up your grits.

NICE work bother!!!
Hand rubbing a satin finish is a LOT of work and dedication!!!
The ironwood scales look bad AZZ!!

wow that looks great.

Thanks for the compliments guys n girls.

STJones: It was a lot of hard work but at the same time somewhat therapeutic.
