A thunder storm , or more precisely a huge howndraft took out 4 or 5 oak tree at my sisters place recently. Saterday I got a chance to really use my Sgt Kadka chirawa shamsher. This is the best khuk yet. That darned thing will cut 1 and 2 inch oak limbs with ease. I was very impressed, made quick work of all delimbing. This puppy throws chips everywhere on the bigger stuff to move the wood out quick. I also love the Sgt " chilangi " style handles, not as cumbersome a big chit handle, but with a large enought flair to keep if from slipping out of the hand. You can relax you hand, and just flail away. Unlike a chitlangi, handle the flair is in line mostly with the front and rear of the blade , thinner perpendicular. very comfortable when making direction changes. Perfectly crafted as a tool . After owning about 5 khukri I have found the one for me. This thing is awesome, It was sharp when I was finished as well, held a edge throught all the rough treatment.
I must say of all the styles I have owned, ak, wwII, gangaram and chitlangi , for raw power this is the number one chip mover. Is is 18 inches and about 35 oz. The extra weight drives it in the wood to knock out the big chips. It puts the weight where it will do the most good.
In addtion , it has a huge sweet spot. I know the ganga is supposed to have the largest, but my 18 inch ganga cannot compair. The extra weight also reduces the felt (and tiring) vibration and shock that some of the smaller, longer or lighter weight khukris have when striking a chunk of hard wood. Let the weight do the work, don't wear your hands out. This one is a real tool and a work of art at the same time. Love it. I highly recommend one, they do cost a bit more , but it was worth every nickle. ask for one by name , I am sure that Yangdo has one or two examples of the Sgt works. I am sure all will be good, but the chiriwa Shamcher is awesome. Don't expect it for a daily special they get snaped up quickly, I waited for at least a year before making the call, sure glad I finally ponied up the cash and got one.
