I tried using one of those router motor controllers as a base for an annodizer and the DC motor controller from by grinder.

Both worked but, not well enough for good color control.

I tried a standard 'variac' and am much happier with the result. The one I got had enough room in the control case that I could add the bridge rectifier and DPDT switch right in there - no extra box.

Here's the parts

Item # 99N006 from this place: http://www.alltronics.com/transformers1.htm

This part from Radio Shack: http://www.radioshack.com/product.asp?catalog_name=CTLG&product_id=276-1181

And this switch: http://www.radioshack.com/product.asp?catalog_name=CTLG&product_id=275-1533

The hook up is like this:http://www.warnerknives.com/anodizer.htm

BTW it works as an etcher machine too. The whole machine is well under $100. And you get very controllable 5A unit for etching logos and anodizing titanium.

Hope that information helps somebody.

I'm gonna have to save this thread. If I can ever get around to messing with some folders this winter... ... I've got a few ideas.

Thanks Steve.

I have two of the variacs (no case) I only need one if anyone is interested?
I just want what I paid for it on Ebay + S&H. I'll have to look up what I paid for it if anyone is interested. :)
